Welcome to the Forum, Sneezle!
I am learning all the time from the artists here.
There is a thread for Newbies called Show and Tell where you can post pictures of your work without judgement.

Happy Painting!

Welcome to the forum, Sneezle! I hope you'll love it here as much as I do. It's a very warm, welcoming place with a goldmine of information and support for face painters. Smile We have a good few artists here from the Netherlands (including l!zzie, the Wuppie Queen!), so I'm sure you'll feel at home.

As for fesspenter, her avatar is beautiful, yes, but don't be fooled - she's quite, quite crazy. We love her anyway, though, and this place is cheaper than therapy for her. Wink

Can't wait to see some of your work!

Oh, wait!
I am receiving therapy here?

I do not feel I am getting more sane and logical here.
I still feel like a big goofball.
Is "Big Goofball" a diagnosable medical condition?

Actually...
I DO feel better now.

Going back to my box....

See what I mean, Sneezle? Poor Fessy is quite severely afflicted. We have to keep her in a box for her own safety. Now and then, we let her out. She paints beautiful, artistic things and makes extremely funny comments. And then we lock her back in her box.

Really, it's for her own good. Poor wee thing.

Dear Sneezle:
If you post where you are from in your Profile...
you can find other face painters in your area by looking up where they are from. It is important for me to have friends in the face painting world who live closer to me.
I can share face paint orders so we split the shipping. I will order one color, and the other painter can order another color... we split the cakes and swap and voila! we now have two colors each for the price of one.
We can meet for mini-jams to share techniques, or a tasty beverage or two.
I have fellow artists I can call upon to fill in for jobs as the birthday events always want me there for Saturday at 2pm.
I have face painters I can work with as a team, if the job is a large job.

Happy Painting!

Fesspenter, thank you, i thougt i did fill in where i'm from. Strange. I can try to change it, thanks. Great idea. And shipping is not really necessary i guess, there's a great face painting online shop in the Netherlands with lovely splitcakes, it would be more expensive to ship it myself. Veelux, thank you!

Dear Sneezle:
Re: Why we named our youngest daughter "Holland".
While my family does have some Pennsylvania Dutch in our blood, that doesn't count because we have EVERY nationality in our bloodline.
When I was pregnant with our third daughter... there were floods occurring in Manitoba. There was a news reporter who interviewed a part-time relief worker/ part-time fire fighter. When he was asked "What can we, as Ontarioans, do for the flood victims of Manitoba? The worker read from a Red Cross clipboard and began to list...
new, unused, wrapped toothbrushes
toothpaste
toiletries...
He stopped reading and said, "We don't need any of this stuff. It was a flood, not a fire. Most people brought an overnight bag. There are 1500 people here and three showers and nobody brought towels. Please send us your old, clean towels." He was SO down-to-earth and funny. As I wrapped up our clean, old towels to send to the Red Cross for distribution for the flood victims... his last name haunted me. His last name was "Holland". Everywhere I turned, the name was reinforced with Amsterdam, Springtime, Tulips. Tim and I had discussed a few names before she was born and we did not agree on anything.

I was at the hospital, and I gave birth to our youngest daughter after a long, hard one and a half, to two minutes of hard labor. Tim held her and she looked up at him. Our doctor asked about a name. Tim looked at her for a long time... probably longer than I had been in labor... and said, "Holland".

Now, when Holland was 7 years old, her class did a research project about each of their names. Holland discovered that the word "Holland", in some language, means, "Substance of the Earth". Holland came home very angry that we had named her after dirt.

She likes her name, now. She can get lots of shirts with her name on the front. It is a good thing she loves the color orange!
