Zombies quick ?

Post by shandi on Fri Mar 08, 2013 4:08 pm

I need to know what supplies are a must have, I have to be able to do very fast Zombies but they need to look good, any suggestions of what I must have. I was thinking of grease paint but it's so messy and so many steps. Going to go with starblends but need to know what am I missing...

I made a small red and black split so that I could make blood to splatter. I think stage blood is a mess.

Painted Otter (Melissa Halverson) did a bunch of zombies last fall and did a great job. You might PM her and see what her secret was. Smile

I am doing the make-up for my son's musical "Zombie Prom" in 2 weeks. The actual musical isn't stressing me... it's the flash mob dance the entire cast is doing twice in the high school cafeteria and once in the 9th grade cafeteria that is going to be the death of me (pun intended)... I have to turn over 60 teenagers into zombies really fast. We aren't allowed to use gore....so I'm just going with Starblends and some quick paint/stippling here and there....

Good luck, Shandi! affraid

Any word on quick zombie tutorials?

I have so many requests for this, and I feel at a loss to make one that looks good.

Denise ~ the black and red split cake sounds awesome for splatter, but how do you apply it? (brain just not working this morning)

I have found that the cream tube make up white they sale on party city, applied with a mop/dauber works great for bases better than starblends alone, if I have time I apply starblends on top and looks great and last longer.

Oh, I just split them together instead of messing up my red or black cakes. Might be a good idea to put bits of paint in an empty paint round so that you could mix in the empty side and make it nice and wet so you can flick it with a tooth brush or stiff brush.

I am SO allergic to that tube face paint at Party City.
I do not know exactly what I reacted to, it started with tingling and by the time I was able to remove it, I had tiny fluid filled blisters and red hives.

I know I am very sensitive. I would test this out on yourself before torturing zombies. It might make the zombies look bad. Oh wait! That was the point, wasn't it?!!!

Yikes! If anyone has a reaction like Fess then you may end up with more convincing gore than you had hoped for! affraid Sorry that happened to you Sad ... I have super sentitive skin to, it can be pretty scary to try new things on my face. I always test a spot on my arm first after a similiar experience with cheap foundation.

Base out in grey with a sponge or kabuki brush. Stipple purple/red/black around the eyes, blue/purple lips, the grey base ought to stop them looking too bright and cartoony, but if not, more grey over top. Splatter red/black mixed paint around the mouth using a card. Mank up the hair with gel and paint if you have time.

Fastest zombies ever. Bruise colours work really well. yellow/brown/red/purple/grey. You need muted colours rather than bright butterfly ones. I use my normal water based cake paints (Kryolan, Wolfe, DFX, whatever you've got really) and add brown or grey to dull them down.

If you had more time you can mix red and black on a paintbrush and slash across the face for claw marks. Get into green or blue or purple veining, rotting holes, teeth, latex ripped skin etc, but you asked for fast, right? Smile

I think I'm going to go with starblends and order some coagulated blood and some zombie tooth stain. I think I can whip out something doable , bit worried, so many big name face and body painters will be there and I hate feeling inadequate. Lots on my plate for april and may and am getting a bit nervous

These are from the haunted maze I helped with last Oct. They aren't really detailed, but quick. Base is white Starblend with black, green and purple eye shadows used for the rest. Graftobian Blood paste applied with a stipple sponge was my first choice by the last day of the maze. It's dark red and is nice and thick so it stays where you put it (for the most part)! Have fun and good luck!
