Cheap Glitter Tattoo Stencils

Post by SuzySparkles on Tue Dec 01, 2009 12:29 am

Hi!! I am just wondering if there is a site for cheap/cheaper glitter tattooo stencils. I like in the US and it would probably be cheaper to buy here with the shipping... Thanks so much!!

I think all the stencils I've seen have been about .50 each. Maybe bulk orders are a bit cheaper?

It probably ISN'T in the grand scheme of things... but 50 cents is just too much for me!! LOL

I mean I ordered 10 Greenbay packer stencils the other day for like 5.40 and then 10 Vampire ones for around the same amount... $11.00 plus shipping later I don't feel as though I got much for my money...lol

Anyone know how to make them?? LOL!! I might have to buy a Cricut!! haha!!

Has anyone 're-used' the stencils and had luck with that??

I've reused them, but if you're in a hurry it's kind of a pain to put it back nicely on the paper. Also, the tacky glue will make it stick to things you don't want it to stick to. I reused mine up to three times if I was really careful. After 2 or 3 times the outline just starts to get too indistinct.

I suppose you could try cutting stencils from the kind of plastic sheeting that's used as a portfolio protector. I've never tried it, though.

How much are you charging for the tats. A multi colored tattoo shouldn't be any less than $5. And the glitter and glue used, shouldn't run you more than $.50 per tat. Thus you are at a $4 profit. By the time you by that cutting machine and all the software and "exta" discs, the frustation and time lost will be well worth the .50 per stencil.

While I am not careful enough to reuse them, I do put them to the side and have made a couple of good sample boards on black felt with the used ones.

Good luck and let us know if you find them any cheaper! I agree that they shouldn't be more than .25 each, for a glorified sticker, but what are you going to do?

I was adding it on to birthday parties as a package type deal... I was going to add $2.00/kid for glitter tattoos... might have to charge more though... Would be nice to find them at a cheaper price though... Smile oh well.... Very Happy

please don't take this the wrong way but is it really sanitary to reuse stencils? Doesn't skin, oil and hair (even if you can't see it) stick to the used ones?

Well in my personal opinion I think that is stretching a bit... that is like 2 kids sharing a sticker... I doubt anything would ever come from that...ever. ::shrug:: Other opinions??

Well I know for a fact ringworm can be spread like that (and other things). I think that in itself is worth the .50 to the client, right?

Anyway don't take my question as an insult. Just my personal opinion! Wink

ETA- kids sharing a sticker is one thing but an adult reusing stencils is quite another don't you think? Honestly I think this is my sanitation training kicking in through working as a stylist for so long. lol. I have seen some pretty nasty things though in salon settings so I am a bit anal I admit.

Well, since it's me that's reused the stencils I should probably respond. I know what ringworm looks like, and obviously if a child has some unknown suspicious-looking thing on their arm, I'm not going to do a tattoo there. Since I use the same bottle of glue and brush to dust off the glitter, I think that if something were going to be spread, it would be anyway. It's a bit like using the same brush on multiple people.

what about scabies?

I personally wouldn't reuse brushes on people without sanitizing them first.

Well, to each his own method. I really don't feel like arguing because I don't think we're going to change one another's minds.

And honestly I don't know much about scabies, that's something I'll have to look at. Is it usually noticeable on the skin?

I am the queen of reusing stencils. I think it is perfectly fine to do. First you clean the skin with alcohol to clear it of any oils and debris. Second I try to reuse the stencils at the same event, for example I have had tween friends come and ask for the same tattoo so you can line them up and apply the tatt assembly line style. You can use the stencil about three or four times.

No it's not at first and it's SO easy to spread.. Not to mention it's a major pain to get rid of too.

I have had this conversation before elsewhere and it was brought up that there is probably some strong chemicals in the glue that *might* potentially kill off things. To me it wouldn't be worth the chance though. Seriously.

I am not arguing with you in the least. I am just genuinely concerned about these types of practices. It is exactly these issues that makes me wish that face painting was regulated (just like nail salons) by the state.

Yes to each his own but I pride myself on sanitation I guess.
