Tattoo stencil storage

Post by squiggle on Sat Dec 05, 2009 5:25 pm

I've just ordered a huge selection of 3-part glitter tattoo stencils, but now I have a new problem... how I do I store these? Does anyone have any advice on how to store them so they're portable but easy to use?

Hmm never thought about the binder! I have a coupon binder that uses the sports card sized inserts... that would work for this as well, and they do sell different-sized inserts that would be great for the different-sized stencils. This would definitely be a cheap and easy solution!

Hey you guys I have some ideas for you. Trading card binders work well for the stencils you can number them and match them to a poster so your customers are not looking through your stencil book. Also I find that aluminum cd cases work well for me. Each sleeve is two sided and comes numbered... they almost are like hanging file folders. Here is a link:

I saw a picture once of someone using a hanging jewelry organizer with clear pockets. Also, an index card file.

Ooh I like those ideas, too! With the CD case they're portable and yet if you put in dividers with the names of the stencils, they would be easy to find and grab in a hurry- same with the hanging jewelry organizer!

um yep... that black poster that is sort of shown behind the cases there. It came with the stencil set from glimmer body art numbered. I love you I then have others that I haven't quite figured out what to do with yet

I wonder if there would be a convenient way to make a poster like that black one only customized with the stencils you offer. I have never bought from Glimmer, so I don't have one of their posters, plus some of those designs I just would not have a use for, so would not want them on the board.
Has anyone had any experience constructing or printing such a poster. I really like the nice professional look to it.
The one we currently have is of actual glitter tats that we did on fun foam sheets, then mounted them inside poster frames. I would much prefer something we could roll up and transport more easily, plus it looks weather proof to boot.

Re: Tattoo stencil storage

After I got my glitter kit from Jody www.signatureglitter.com I found a jewelry rollup with a zipper that holds 160 stencils I got in ten packs, fifty each in the top & bottom row.

For my design display, I placed the stencils on paper, copied, then laminated the two design sheets together for protection from little hands. It curls nicely over the glitter tray to keep it away from inquisitive eyes.

My glitter kit is compact and fits neatly in my rolling art box with the FP supplies, ready when I want to use it.

Everything is in my glitter bag, ready to go ; )

I love to go to thrift shopping for useful goodies I can find there. The organizer that the 13 poofer bottles are in, the jewelry rollups & clear makeup bag were under a buck apiece.

I've heard that many use the large hanging rollup (next to my kit) to keep their glitter stencils in but face painters say that they have to be very careful when they fold the rollup in thirds or stencils fall out when in a hurry, like they do in baseball card or cd holders.

Hope this helps,
Susan

I just got the cd case from ebay -really sturdy and professional looking I think it will work well. I want something that will look good and work well at high end parties -trying to break into the bar mitzvah circut. I will probably come up with my own boards using photoshop. Lots of great looking ideas here.
I am still debating poof verses brush. I like the look of the brushwork but I have been outside in the wind. I was thinking about getting cute hand held fans for the kids to hold to blow dry the glue quicker. I also need to get food color to tint the glue -my eyes are getting old.

Magic,
What do you mean by
I like the look of the brushwork
You can get the same effects with poof bottles as you do brushing on the glitter. Just wondering if there is a different "brush" method you are referring to.

A four inch long battery fan for under five bucks at walmart camping section works great for me ; ) If three want the same design it's great so by the time I get the third one glued, the first is dry and ready for poofing two their 'most favorite colors' on ; )
Poofing goes very fast; poof, poof, pack it down, and yer done, next!!!
Hope this helps.

I like the whole show of how complicated I make it look with the brush and the reveal. Not just anybody can do this right? Do you burnish after with the handle of the brush?

I really like that roll up jewelry organizer. Carol Turman had a great one she was using. The beauty of it is you put the stencils you have to be viewed and don't have to make a design board that may change continuously or "run" out of certain designs. Although I do love the look of a design board on the easel or hanging in a booth!!!
