This is my first attempt at a hard design (to me anyways - i looked at a small picture, and then enlarged it on my face).

Hi Everyone!
It's so exciting to see all the new people who have joined in!! Welcome!!
Sooo many pictures! So very nice to look at, even if too many for me to comment on individually, since I looked at so many today (always behind on the forum these days Sad  )
But I do want to say to Silversky: it was great to hear about your party and that you got such a nice note from the mom. Thank you also for the ipad/photo posting directions. I cut and pasted it so I could try it out sometime.
Katurah, love your new avatar!!! Your paintings are also so bright and colorful, I just love them! I love you are you enjoying your break from school?
Paola, besides being a talented artist, you are such a sweet cheerleader for everyone here!! cheers cheers
Marielle, I am in constant amazement at your productivity AND creativity (loved your daughter's peacock face and outfit!)
This thread is getting long, but I don't think I will start a new one until August (that way it can end "evenly"--I know, that's a little OCD lol!)...if that is ok with everyone.
flower
Happy Painting! (to steal Lisa's tag line Wink )

For the hot and sweaty location.
I have been experimenting with the starblend and lining with BenNye magic cake after watching Denise's great video.
This is how i started, purple starblend in the eyes lined with BenNye on the left and Wolfe on the right.

After an hour walking under a scorching and deadly heat. That day was the hottest we hit 105 at the beach affraid. I touched the bottom of it a bit with my finger as my sweat was dripping all over my face. BenNye did not drip!!

Wolfe

Wiped off with tissue and water.
BenNye

Wolfe

I found lining with BenNye is a bit harder and you have to upload your brush often. The results in the end are great!! To wash it off, it needs soap and water or it won't come off easily. What do you think?

Hi all! First time sharing my work here! I'm going to have to build up a better kit over time, but that doesn't mean I can't practice with the basics until then, right? Here's my patient roommate tolerating a quickie with a small Snazaroo pallet!

Been a while since I painted a face... I forgot how different it is from painting a canvas or on a computer!

Thank you both! Ah, split cakes... I sponged each color individually here. I want to get some split/rainbow cakes soon! Ive got a tight budget on my hands so in the meantime I'll sit and live vicariously through you guys. Wink Use that split cake!

There's so much lovely work here. I really dig your color choices for the sugar skull, two bees! Lufiszobor, your tiger is super charming. And Paola, I really like your delicate brushwork!

Twobees - Take a look at you tube, there are a lot of video that shows you how to use the split cake. I loved the one from Denise PaintedParty she is also a member here, they are awesome. She shows you how much water and how to start your brush. I love Lisa Joy Young, and many others. Watch Donna Dewberry for the roses and flowers. you can use the same technique on faces the only difference is the paint and how you load your brush.
Meg - Tailgunner, thank you for your compliments. I did not much pay attention to details as it was meant to test how the paint acted under the the heat and sweat.

Marielle, that kite in the rainbow sky is so pretty! May I 'borrow' it? It is so cheerful. sunny sunny

Lufiszobor, Love those colors in your butterfly...what prisma cake is it?? Your hedgehog is so cute! Maybe I can get my daughter to let me paint her Shocked  with that design...since she likes hedgehogs. And as Erica mentioned, I too like the placement of the nose on the tiger. Don't remember seeing one like that and I think it is a great idea. If you ever learn the trick of getting both sides even, let me know Laughing

TwoBees, WELCOME! Always nice to have someone join the party here bounce  the mouse, Yoda and veggies are very cute too. Like the ‘rickrack’ effect (well that’s what came to my mind Wink ) on the eyes of your sugarskull….I’ve never done one so I can’t give any hints either.

Paola, Pretty design! (even if you weren’t trying to concentrate on your swirls, you are a natural at them! cheers )
Thank you for the info on the Ben Nye. And 105 at the beach!! That was a really super test of its ability to withstand heat!  Good to know it really sticks on—unless you wipe it because of a sweat drop Wink

Tailgunner, WELCOME!! So glad you've joined us here! I, too, like your blending and the colors look nice together. Your kit will build over time, but please keep sharing in the meantime, ok? (I have a fabulous kit…but have been crazy busy this summer and haven’t done much painting Sad   so obviously the kit is not the important thing affraid  )
