has your child gotten into face painting because of you?
I had gotten the Snaz book of masks with the clam shell pack of paints recently. Well, I gave them to my 5yo and now he is absolutely OBSESSED! Now he wants to get into MY kit! uh oh! I promised I would put him together his own little kit with larger quantities of paints (he's almost used up all the paints already painting himself and it's only been 3 days!) LOL.

Yes! My 7 year old daughter wants to be a face painter when she grows up, and when I am practising faces on my face, both of my children like to paint my legs at the same time. I've had some very interesting designs!!!

I have my teenage daughter helping me out all the time. She does cheek art using the stencil technique and she also does airbrush temporary tattoos. When I first bought my small airbrush start up kit my daughter thought I was crazy - little did she know that I had bought it to get her into the business more. Now she is so glad. I am doing to try and teach her how do regular face painting so that she can do more parties and make more money.

My son was excited to find out about the FP stamps. I will have to get him some. Though he is perfecting his dragon mask and roses (they actually look more like poppies to me but I won't tell him that!).

Re: has your child gotten into face painting because of you?
My daughter is the sole reason I went into face painting as a business! I had been doing it as a volunteer at our church and my youngest daughter helped and fell in love with it, but of course, at 13, she can't run her own business
So I researched and bought some professional paints and equipment and named the business after her, so that when she is 18 she can take it over. She now helps me by doing glitter tattoos and managing the line, and now her older sister wants in on the action! She's going to start practicing to help out as well.

Isn't that fabulous when it becomes a family business? My little brother (12) doesn't have the patience for it but my mom is often my line manager. And, my boyfriend (who is a better at it than I am) will paint with me at big events.......sometimes.

My almost five-year-old is interested in it, too. I have an extra basic Paradise palette that I'll be giving him for Christmas.

oh yeah my Lonie is twisting and really lit up like a Christmas tree at Fabbulous. He's 15 and a great artist in his own right. He is working on his face paint. I did find him body painting at the jam all on his own. It gives us great quality time together doing shows together and he just bought n=himself a Les Paul Guitar with his earnings.

Hmm... no kids, but my mom is getting more involved! She's my brush washer, line manager, sometimes photographer, release form getter, gopher (food/drink) and porter.

My daughter, who's 6, loves face painting. I have two practice heads, one for her and one for me. She's even designing her own faces. I draw a face and she design, with pencil crayon, what she wants. I'm so proud of her. I took her to her first gig two weeks ago. She changed my water, managed the line and helped the other children pick out their design. She amazes me every day.
My 9 year old son wants to do airbrush & glitter tattoos next summer. He's learning to twist right now and loves it. It makes me happy to see them interested in something I love.

My seven year old practices on her dad all the time. It started with a felt marker on his head to 'give him hair' a few years back, then progressed to 'makeovers' and now it's full face designs. He's such a good sport. He lets her add wigs and do his nails too. He's pretty comfortable with his masculinity. I have an album on my facebook page for her handiwork. I love that she feels empowered to express her creativity so boldly.

My sisters are and my brother has helped with airbrush tattoos. All teenagers.
Re: has your child gotten into face painting because of you?
It's times like this that I really miss my mom! She would've LOVED doing this with me! We had a craft business together back when my kids were itsy bitsy and we had a blast. She passed away right after Hurricane Katrina- not having electricity for 6 weeks with no A/C just started her on a downhill spiral health-wise that she never recovered from.
Re: has your child gotten into face painting because of you?
My daughter was 7 when I started painting and was quickly making up designs of her own by drawing out faces and coloring in where the face paint was to be placed. She is 10 now and is practically an expert at cheek art, can do most of the things on my bored, and goes with my to street parties, I let her do free hand art with my paying customers. Kids warm up to her faster than anyone I've seen and she gets more tips than I do when we are together. I took her to FABAIC here in Orlando two years ago and she loved it, even gave me some tips!
She does the glitter tattoos as well, but they aren't as fun for her.
My just now 5 yr old Logan, who is in my videos, Loves being painted and is a self proclaimed artist already, painting my legs, his sisters face and on paper with acrylics. His favorite things to paint are Roller Coasters that go to the moon!!
