Glitter Nightmare

Post by smileonyu on Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:22 am

I've just recently reorganized my glitter tattoo kit neatly into a box, with all colors easily identifiable and sparky.  I brought this box to an event... well, it's not really a gig, but just a place where some kids were present.

I've been teaching in the past year, and watching over for children has become almost a second nature to me.  So nearly out of a sense of duty, I brought my GT kit.  Then out of stupidity, I trusted it with the sticky-handed, sugar-rushed, don't-know-any-better group of little monsters!  I was so trusting, even though there was a little twinge, I still decided to believe nothing would happen, and walked away.

Then, I don't know how much time had passed, I came back for my kit, only to find the box was empty!  EMPTY!!!  Some specks of glitter blinked on the table, as if saying they were sorry for what happened to their sisters.  My heart was still hopeful and tried to comfort me.  I immediately started to search high and low for my babies.
One bottle of red (my glitters are in poofer bottles) laid lonely under the table.  I grabbed it in my hand, and ran to every room for the rest.  But by the last turn of the hallways, I'd only found two more.  I tried to maintain hope, and yes!  There laid at the foot of the last door and in the dusty hallway were shadows of small objects!  I quickly picked them up, and counted with a disappointed heart.  No I didn't find all of the bottles.

My hand clenched out of disappointment, and suddenly was soiled.  Did I accidentally pick up a piece of glass?  I thought.  I looked down, and there was the nightmare!  Out of my red glitter bottle flew out some cool-aid-ish red liquid!  Not my pretty glitters, gross liquid!!  Stupid kids!!!  They must have dumped out my glitters and blew through them like they do with just about everything else, and filled the bottles with their worthless drinks!  With a gray sob, I tumbled through the rest of the bottles, and yes, they were all gone.

I was numb.  I couldn't really take vengeance at them; they knew nothing better.  I couldn't even ask the parents to repay me, for it was a strange place and I couldn't pin which ones were responsible.... Over $110 worth of my beautiful glitters, gone.  I was sad, dark, not even tears would come to accompany me...

You know how when you were in a really bad situation, your heart all distressed and you desperately hope that all was just a dream?  Well, this was a dream.  I half regained conciseness while gradually woke, and remembered that thank God none of those actually happened!  Moral of the nightmare:  DON'T LEAVE YOUR GLITTERS!

Lol I felt like crying for you until I read that last line! Glad this was just a nightmare....I have heard (read) some real horror stories on this forum! Isn't that right Fess, Tina, Miss Ronnie? All your real life stories still give me slight panic attacks before each gig... Shocked

hahaha, I know!  For about 20min after I woke I was still really scared and distressed.  So should I tell upfront that it's all fake the next time (hopefully not) I have a nightmare?

You forgot to mention the bloody hook that was stuck in the poofer bottle!!!
My kit is my baby.
I do not allow anybody to touch it.
Unless... they threatened my with a bloody hook!!!

Face painters are not like other people. Not at all. Even our dreams and anxieties are different.

And that is a great and scary thing!

Glad it was a dream. Totally identify.

:cheers:And now ... DRUMROLL!!! ... this is my 400th post! Just noticed that the one above was #399, and so I figured I'd round it out.

I'm not a hyper-poster, it's taken me a couple of years to arrive here at 400, but, I consider it an honor and privilege to be here among you all, learning and laughing (and sometimes experiencing vicarious glitter nightmares).

Dear JJJJJ:
I noticed that your posts are
thoughtful,
insightful,
and
helpful.
Now, I have posted a few times.  I think I have RARELY been thoughtful or helpful.
You have QUALITY over QUANTITY.
I just have a lot of inane, unhelpful posts, that are self-serving as I post stuff to make myself laugh.
I laugh.
A lot.

:lol:Fess - I do not beg to disagree. I simply DO disagree! About your posts. They are very often thoughtful and helpful. And, they make everyone (me, for sure) want to sit down with you over dinner and just listen and listen to you. And of course, laugh!

And something is wrong with the smiley icons. They are acting strangely and inserting themselves at the beginning of my posts instead of at the end where I am placing them.

Alert, Forum! ALERT!! ALERT!! The icons may be taking over. Get out your glitter, now, and be ready to douse them when they attack!!!

And THAT, above, was ... #401!

And THIS, here, is #402.

And I will NOT be numbering my posts again, I promise, till I reach 700 or so.

And I'm shying away from the emoticons for now. Because they have become unCONtrollable.

Yes, the reply box looks a bit unusual, too. I am thinking the emoticons have already taken over.

Just finished watching FABAtv live.  Tal from Ybody was talking about marketing in restaurants by just start doing GT on people in the booth and on waitresses.  I might try that, if I could get over this GT trauma~

Btw, congratulations JJJJ!  I'm not a poster either, and hopefully my posts will increase both in quality and quantity~

Dear Miss Ronnie:
You are my DMB.
I would be deeply honoured to accompany you anywhere.... in light of your communion with all Phylae Insecta.
You have saved others from West Nile by taking a bullet for others and attracting a mosquito that could have infected another.
You have been swarmed by tiny red spider mites (which are NOT spiders at all, if you counted their legs).

You are my Designated Mosquito Bait!

By the way, an easy way to tell HOW MANY red spider mites found you delicious, is to count their legs and divide by 6.
Just trying to be helpful!
Going back to my box now!
