Hello from near Windsor UK!

Post by MrsMascara on Tue Jul 09, 2013 7:22 am

Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself, I live in England, not far from Windsor, and I am a very amateur face painter, who has got into it via volunteering, and am trying to learn and practice as much as I can to improve. I stumbled across this fantastic site and have been lurking for a couple of weeks or so, I thought it was about time I said hi, as you all seem such a friendly, talented and supportive bunch.

I hope to be able to contribute too.

When I was 11 my dad had a business trip to England and my mom & I came with him. While he was working, we went sightseeing. We were there for 3 weeks - I remember visiting Windsor Castle (I think - all of the castles kind of blur together after all this time). Is that near you?

Yes, Windsor Castle is about 5 miles away from my home. Does MN mean Minnesota? have you always lived there?

It is gloriously hot here in England at the moment, finally, after so much cold and run, it is very welcome, I am trying to stay out of the garden and do some work, but am failing miserably at the moment!

I did have a one stroke practice on my arm, can't seem to get the brush loaded right, lots of paint, but too dry a brush I think! I keep being tempted by my paints, when I should be doing housework or my other job!

Yes. I am in Minnesota and I have always lived here. We had a very long winter and a cool wet spring. It has been hot here for several days. Tomorrow is predicted to be gorgeous (warm but not too humid) so we hope to spend the day outside boating. There are many lakes in Minnesota. Today is hot and rainy so it is good to be inside, even if I have to work.

For loading a brush for one-stroke painting, if your bristles split apart, you need more water - but not so much that the paint runs. Kind of a tricky balance. Keep practicing, you'll get it.

Boating sounds gorgeous, I wish I was messing about on the river today!

Thanks for the tip about the one stroke, I think I managed, eventually, but it is a fine art!

Welcome Mrs Mascara!
Have you seen the Show and Tell in the New to Face Painting section? Hope you will join other newbies there and share your work.
Your avatar is great, btw!
You might want to put your approximate location under your avatar...it helps sometimes, when you have questions for people, to know where you are from flower

Welcome to the Forum!
The Show and Tell thread has already been mentioned. There is also a game of Face Paint Tag going on in the TAG! You're it! thread. The game may have stalled as this is the really busy season for many face painters. I will sign back up for the game of Tag in the fall.

Happy Painting!

Welcome to the best resource for face painting on the net. Has been hot & humid, w/some heavy thunderstorms for weeks here in sunny Florida, but today is overcast & cooler, whoops...I just saw the sun. Today, I need to replace some of my soggy picture boards. Enjoy searching here!
