Ben Nye Majic Cake V. Starblend Powder
Looking to beef up on powders before summer time. Please let me know your thoughts about both of these brands. I understand that the powder-based holds up much better in Heat & Humidity.
Re: Ben Nye Majic Cake V. Starblend Powder
Havn't used the Ben Nye ones, but I have a few of the starblends and I like them. I prefer the Ben Nye Lumiere powders to starblend though because I can get a kind of sparkle or sheen in the powder, which suites my style. I live in the south east, so it's very hot and humid during the summer here, and I would absolutely recommend using powders, because the kids don't sweat them off.
I also really like Erika's mica powders, use them all the time!

I have only recently tried the MagicCakes, and only a few colors, and it wasn't humid. But, you apply wet and it dries to a nice matte finish. I used a brush, and it absorbed the water really quickly. I'm not sure how it would do with sponge work. I think I may try again/buy more when the heat approaches.

What are you using the powders for? Painting or accents?.
I am in love with the new VIVA powders - high pigment high shimmer use dry or moist and if moist (unlike mehron or ben nye) you can go back to using them dry again. Use is for painting or accents.

Some of the starblents are really good and some of them...not so much! Just like with anything I suppose. I know there were a few colors that I would reorder but some I wish I had never ordered to begin with.

I have all the Starblends & love them all except the purple. It's hard to apply. The red & white make an awesome quick Spidey Guy. They make wonderful bases. I ran out of my Ben-Nye Lumiere powders & need to get more. The colors are wonderfully sparkly. Powders don't go on very well on sweaty or wet kids, so make sure they're dry.

Are Magicakes water resistant, really? Has anyone tried it?
Re: Ben Nye Majic Cake V. Starblend Powder
I've only tried one Magicake--Tahitian Blue. I applied it wet with a sponge on my arm and it stained for a couple of days. Looked like I had an icky bruise. Now I'm afraid to try it on my face.

Darnit! Is there any type of free-hand temporary tattoo like paint?
Re: Ben Nye Majic Cake V. Starblend Powder
Reel Creations, Kryolan's B.I.C, Temptu, etc. All are alcohol activated inks that are waterproof.
And there are several brands of airbrush inks besides those too.
