2010 Face Painting Goals

Post by Metina on Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:44 pm

Hiya,

I wanted to start this so we could all list our goals and then check them off or modify as the year goes on. My biggest goal is to grow my business by expaning to more than just face painting. I have been working on twisting and my henna and just ordered 1000 postcards through Vista that they will print and mail for me. What a godsend!

1. Learn to twist 25 designs
2. Be working at least 3 weekends per month
3. Come up with a clown costume
4. Commit at least 10 henna tatts to memory
5. Continue to build the FPForum through social networking, email newsletters, word of mouth and fun challenges!

more to come

Metina, great idea. Think I will try to reach the following goals:
Reach a level of henna tattoos, so I can do more complicated design on the spot.
Practice my normal "daisy" flowers, till they look good (I'm much better at roses)
Get to minimum one convention/ festival.
Finish my new homepage (halfway there already)

Hope I meet some of you fellow forum member in the new year. The last months has been really busy with a lot of jobs and a sweet new boyfriend, so I did not have so much time to spend here. But January is always a slow month, so you will be seeing more to me again here =)

Happy new year.

Get to a convention.
Get business cards.
Get comfortable/great with tribals and nothings
Stop reorganizing my kit because I have found what works for me!
Network with more painters in my area.
Paint more bodies.

I think this is a pretty good start for next year. I have a tendency to be over-ambitious.

Great idea Metina,

1. make more in 2010 than in 2009
(hopefully not too hard because I'm hoping the economy will turn)
2. get more creative
(I'm like a xerox machine, if I see it I can copy it, but I can't come up with anything original)
3. Go to a convention
(I'm taking care of that one early, I'm going to Kim Hatch's convention in Connecticut this January)
4. Market myself more.....see #1
5. practice more (I have a tendency to be slack and not force myself to paint during the slow periods....like now....! Wink

Happy New Year Everyone! I love you

I love this! Something to focus on...

In no particular order of importance:

1. See that a thriving NE Ohio Face Painter's Guild is established and KNOWN! And be an active member of it!
2. Get my website up and running!
3. Get more pictures of my work on said website!
4. Weed the 'baubles' out of my kit so that I only keep what I will actually use.
5. Do my first body painting (I'm thinking a back mural)
6. Get better at tribals, no so much line quality but creativity in design.
7. Learn to do glitter tats and become proficient enough at painting to do both.
8. Speed up without sacrificing quality!
9. Go to at LEAST ONE convention! I want to meet at least some of you guys here who have helped me get my feet off the ground!
10. Learn to see my work from a positive stand point instead of with a critical eye! I need to accept that I provide a service that many can't and it is my creative ability that is sought after more so than my paints.
11. Meet Shannon face-to-face and have her show me how to use Bach Blue the way she does!

I'm a goal??? I'm honoured... (with a "U")!

My goals...
- Increase income (ALWAYS an annual goal!)
- get my next book DONE... The SBS one... taking a lot of time to get all the painting done, so I'm a bit behind on my deadline...
-to run Camp Fennell in the summer (still waiting on a couple of festivals to confirm dates so I can set the dates for the camp!)
- review my business plan as usual and update as necessary
- be a little more agressive in my marketing - there are more painters in the area than there used to be and I need to be a little more diligent about targetting "new" customers.
- get to one major event/convention/workshop myself to learn new things!

Re: 2010 Face Painting Goals

Post by Judy on Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:39 am

It's been exactly 1 year since I started thinking about face painting. In fact New Year's Eve I had the privilege of painting with the lady that inspired me to give this a try. Last new year's I stood in line for 1 1/2 hours to have Criss paint my step daughter and she whipped out a white puppy dog in a couple of minutes, this year I was painting at a table next to her... how cool is that. Now I'm hooked.... thanks Criss Laughing

My goals by July:
1. Reduce my avg time/face to 5 min/face.
2. Get a tall director's chair.
3. Go to Camp Fennel- August would work for me
4.Make my display board/set up wind proof.
5. Increase the number of pics on my display board.
6. Create some of my own original designs rather than copying others.
7. Organize at least 1 jam.
8. Recruit a line manager/brush washer/water changer person.

yay! I hope that I can make it through my list, it might be too long Rolling Eyes

1. Get a new website that does everything that I want it to do! (already started that one in November when I hired someone to design it for me!)
2. Get my Youtube channel up and running and upload a video to it at least once a week!
3. Try to remember as many names as I can when I go to FABAIC this year.
4. Be more aggressive with my marketing.
5. Have at least one job every weekend(unless I'm on vacation!)
6. Work on the cheekart encyclopedia(this is going to be a side project.)
7. Be more creative, and practice at drawing everyday.
8. Be much more thourough in my book keeping, and recording all info for every client!
