street vendor set up!!please help!

Post by nikkili26 on Thu Oct 10, 2013 10:31 pm

So, I've been told yes, I can set up on the sidewalk and start painting!

That's great, but then I'm told I can't put any signs on the ground, and my setup must be self contained.

How can I advertise that I'm facepainting? Where can I put a sign that is visible if not on the ground?
Is there some kind of cart I can get with a chair built in?

Please point me towards some sort of solution-is there a trick around this "no sign on the ground" thing that I don't know about?

that is cute! I have a car though and that looks a little expensive and complicated...the umbrella seems like a good idea and the bright balls she tied to it get some attention.

Would you be allowed to use side walk chalk to chalk a sign on the ground?
I wonder if the organizers are worried about people tripping on a sign on the ground. It will be really hard to trip over a chalked sign (unless you pile the chalk REALLY thick....or leave the actual pieces of chalk around as a tripping hazard).

Why not somehow attach two lightweight dowel rods to your table (vertically), and then attach a lightweight banner or poster board to them? (I say lightweight because the wind knocks things down all the time, and you don't want them falling on anybody). Just use really good duct tape to secure everything.

You don't need a chair, either. Just have the faces stand in front of you.
I saw a youtube video of some vendors painting at a concert, or something. They had a tray that attached to their body and just walked around.
I can't find it! Gah!!! It was cool, and they were very good!

My display board, signs, info, etc is attached to three sides of my table. The 4th side of the table is where I paint. I put velcro around the tabletop and matching velcro at that point on the board. I use that hard cardboard and it is just a little taller than the table.
