marketing facepaint

Post by StephanieKiDooodle on Wed Nov 13, 2013 8:02 pm

I want to get away from the nickel and dime jobs, or the ones who want me to pay to lease table space at events, but I have not gotten many calls to come to parties, even though I have been consistently complimented on the work of mine that people have seen. What can I do? I have to stay within budget, and a website doesn't really mean people are seeing what I put there, so I hesitate to get into that. I am also not ver tech-savvy, so the internet marketing seems intimidating and unpredictable. Feedback welcome.

raise your rates and deliver all promises you make to clients.

the gigs will slow down, but the income will increase.and over time, the gigs will be back to normal levels. we usually only work weekend, and usually can only handle two gigs a day. book them wisely.

the website is just something to direct people to. it is a tool to prove your business is more than a hobby.

I'm new too, so there could be more to it, but I just know this has worked for me.

let the people who want to work for nothing, work for nothing.
I used to get discouraged til I found out my local competition charges such a low rate because someone else buys their supplies, and they get a $2000 social security check and live with their mom. no kid, no bills.

just run your business legally, and cater to a different client.

I did not have a website at all when I was painting. I had a facebook page, and a gig salad page. The gig salad page brought me several party inquiries a month. Those who wanted more pictures of my work got directed to the facebook page.

As far as paying for table space goes, I think that, as long as you can do ppf and profit off of the event, it is worth it, as it allows you to market yourself to prospective clients. A lot of painters put face paint removal info on the backs of their business cards and hand them out to the parents of every child they paint. That might be an idea for you to try.

could also be that you spell "kido oodles" to look like "ki(d)oodles".....so they may be searching for kid doodles.

I have lots of info about marketing on my blog (excerpts from my book).

http://shannonfennell.wordpress.com/2012/02/01/business-tips-for-face-painters-body-artists-and-make-up-artists-2-marketing-your-services/

Any marketing information will be applicable in one way or another so you can just look up marketing in general and read about it and do a little research.

Once you download it is a document on your computer. You can print it or just keep it on the computer.
