Post by Miss Ronnie on Wed Sep 17, 2014 9:22 am

Hellooooooooo? Anybody in here? Wow, Kammy's Cafe is looking a little spooky. There's cobwebs everywhere because no one has been coming in to eat cookies or drink Sangria slushies lately, it seems. Well, I'm just pulling up a soft chair next to Fessy's box and going to hang out a bit.

You see, yesterday we got the news that my mother's CT scan shows what appears to be cancer on her liver, with some possible evidence of metastisis. We won't know more until she has a bone scan and another liver biopsy on the 25th. She had a liver biopsy last year and it came back negative..... so our family is confused and upset.

I know we all lose our parents... (I actually have two Moms, this one has been my stepmother since I was 2 1/2 yrs. old and is the one who raised me) My Dad is 78 and my Mom is 80 and they are so active... heck, Dad still plays golf several times a week! Mom says she's going to fight this "tooth and nail" ..... I believe she will.

Miss Ronnie--
Lots of hugs!!

I lost my dad in 2009 due to a biking accident. So I know the pain of watching a parent in pain (He was in a vegetative state for 3 months before passing). I will pray for your mom and you!

As for Kammy -- she is a beautiful smiley woman no matter what is going on and is one who brings happiness to all around her! I think she is fantastic!!

Miss Ronnie, I am so sad to hear that kind of news.

I am in the same situation, we just found out last thursdy that my dad has lungcanser. only 60 years old. Friday he had his first chemo. But it is only to improve his quality of life. we only have about 6 months left with him. So unfair, he was allways so sweet.
Now I am gonna sit in a corner and cry now

Oh no!!!  I am so sad to hear that, MissHolland.
Cancer sucks... period.
My mother got her biopsy rescheduled for tomorrow.  They actually biopsied it twice back in November.... TWICE!  - so they could be sure! ...And they were adamant that it was not cancer then...

You are not going to sit in the corner alone and cry.  I'm here and am giving you a big squishy hug.

And hope that someone stops by with some cookies and wine slushies....

And Amylady - My heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry for what you had to go through. Come on over her in the corner with us and I'll give you a big squishy hug, too.

Dear Miss Ronnie and MissHolland:
I would like to share my stockpile of cookies with you!
There is only one small bite taken out of each one.
Think of it as a "cookie kiss".

Oh darn!!!

I don't like the use of the word 'hate', but I hate cancer!!!
It's so destroying. It's destroys health, love, peace, body and soul.
Very hard work to rebuild all that, if -and I say if!! - you get a chance te recover from that.
Sadly not everyone gets that chance. Crying or Very sad
Hugs to all.

MissHolland, been there I want to share what I learned: you will have a lots of hard time to come, so don't start crying yet, mean while try to spend as much time as you can with him, do some fun stuff and get some videos of him laughing (you will miss his voice so much), tell him how much you love him and remember together the good times you have had, ask forgiveness if you did something that hurt him in the past and the most important thing: Hug him now, after chemo, he would not stand a touch, when my father died the most thing that tortured me was I didn't remember how his hugs feel like, I really hope he will have a smooth transition.

Artyfacesbyluz, your words are so kind, thank you so mutch.

Here a little update: the second chemo has been done and two more to go. His body has a hard time dealing with it. We will have to wait and see how he is getting on with it. But for now he is here! Try to visit them at least two times a week. and hope that my mum and dad can go on a little holliday next week. fingers crossed

It's so hard to see someone you love suffer…so hard to see them slipping away. I remember telling my Dad, as I cared for him, sang to him, just sat & held his hand:"Some people go thru life wondering what their purpose in life is. If I NEVER do another good thing…I'll always know how right it was to be here with you now."
