Thanks, Veelux...and everyone else!!! Got my permanent cap & no infection from the tooth he pulled last week....so....got my "dental clearance" today. Walter & I are good to go. We fly on Sunday after church.
When the sale of our home "fell thru", I decided to just "let go & let God".
1st, our son-in-law got on the phone & got our tickets for Boston...gift from our youngest, switched to Cleveland w/the smallest possible charge. I opened the mail the other night & there was a check from a special fund at our church! My neighbor knew we were trying to book our hotel as cheaply as possible & still be close enough to the hospital to use a free shuttle. She went home & returned with a check. She had NO IDEA what we were doing or how much it would cost to cover the hotel, but her check was almost the exact amount! We'll pay her back after the house gets sold, but Oh my God!!! The best one was when my youngest, an RN who worked every holiday this year, since she knew her firefighter hubby was going to work Christmas, found out she had to work Christmas. She was orienting a new hire & told her why we were going to be out of town & the kids would be w/out either parent. Not only did the woman offer to work Christmas for her...she asked what, where & who was doing my surgery. Guess what? Her Dad had the same surgery, by the same Dr @ Cleveland Clinic & did great! I'd never heard of this Dr before now. I think it's an amazing coincidence or someones telling me to relax....it's going to be OK! I'm signing off for now. Save a seat for me at Kammy's Cafe! XOXO

Dearest Pat,

I don't know if you will be reading this....but....

I am thinking of you (and your husband) and sending out lots of good ju-ju. May your surgery tomorrow be easy-peasy-breezy and your drugs be the best they can be!!!!!

Rhonda, surgery is actually Thursday. Tests today...meet my surgical team tomorrow....rest Wed. Great news today. The rest of my heart is very healthy, so after I recover, I may be stopping my blood pressure meds. I was SO relieved I cried,The bad news is...this may be genetic, so they want our daughters to have an echocardiogram. Scary to hear, but w/out the diagnostic tools we have today, the previous generation "...just died & it was considered part of aging". I am very grateful for so many things: my Iphone to keep in touch, my family & friends (including all of you here), who surround me w/love & support & great medical care!

Well, auto check was pretty funny today, huh?. Cardiology just said he wants to see when I get up, how I do walking. If " not too symptomatic ", I won't need a transfusion!

Re: A New Journey...of the heart

Post by Affordable Face Magic on Fri Jan 17, 2014 11:21 pm

Hi L!zzie. Doing much better now, for sure. We arrived @ the airport in Cleveland for our flight home on Dec 30th, but several flights were cancelled. Long story short...I'm supposed to walk 10 times/day (short walks) to prevent clots. There were hundreds of stressed people...we were brought to a gate for a flight 8 hours away...I walked a few times, but there were people laying around all over the floor. Flew home in terrible turbulence...seatbelts fastened the whole time. Extra baby aspirin & moving my legs didn't do the trick. I woke up at 1am that morning unable to breathe, w/pain in my chest(right side) going up my neck! I was able to text my daughter in the next room (too weak to wake up my husband), & she came running. Told her I had a pulmonary embolus. (blood clot) & they needed to call 911. After another week in the hospital, I was able to come home...happy to be alive. In the middle of all of this, we sold our home & are moving tomorrow. Our family & friends have packed our house, transported most of the boxes & are ready to move us. Our daughters have been lifesavers...literally! They met us @ the airport & one of them has been w/us almost every minute since. Dawn, our oldest, stayed w/me @ the hospital each night. Friends & family filled in for them during the day. Now, my physical therapist says my biggest problem is walking too far or over exercising. It feels so good to get outside in the Florida sunshine, but if I overdo it, I'll slow my progress. All I can say is...going through something like this really helps you understand what's important. The week after I finally made it home, one of my friends, 10 years younger than I, died in his sleep. No warning, no goodbyes to his loving wife & 2 daughters. He never got to walk a daughter down the aisle or hold a grand baby in his arms. Why him & not me??? Maybe there's more for me to do? Whatever the reason, I'm less stressed about things & definitely more appreciative of the many blessings in my life.
Now, a young friend has been diagnosed w/breast cancer. Her young daughter has asked friends to write something original or a quote to inspire her. I think this is a good idea. I'll always remember Michael Magick's 1st message to me on this thread:
"You are as I once was, I am as you may become."
Thank you for that hope, Michael (my fellow Southie kid). Thank you so much to all of you who wrote here & privately. My family read all your posts to me. Your words meant a lot.
Here's what I wrote for my young friend, about to embark on her own journey:
 FAITH grounds you...
 HOPE pulls you thru...
LOVE of family & friends keeps you going & makes it all worth while.

Re: A New Journey...of the heart
I am so glad that you are back. I am also glad that you have caring daughters but that's what daughters do. You are so blessed with your life, family and friends. Someone still has plans for you and a purpose for you to live. I send you my best wishes.
I am very sorry to hear about your friend.
