Thank you Angela. Watched the new January FABATv classes and got inspired.
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
wow! I've missed so much! I'm so glad I got back on tonight for the first time in forever. it's inspired me - i'm painting tomorrow no matter what. I keep letting life get in the way! Such great stuff everyone. I really love the red panda and all the pretty butterflies from you all. I'm always looking for a better butterfly.
There are some really darling little ones as models out there. holy moly.
And my girls are insanely jealous of the makeup kits and barbie doll heads.
lol keep it up.

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Lovely designs all!!! Love the red panda. Very cute butterflys and rainbows! That Minnie Mouse is just tooooooo Cute.
I'm so excited, i joined the monthly competition for the first time, it's my first entry at a face painting competition ever. I'm thinking about making a second and a thirth design because Metine mentioned: Entries are unlimited--BECAUSE for each entry, $1 will be donated to the March of Dimes! Awesome. Have to think about a few other kids characters i like

Dear MissHolland:
This thread is all about supportive warmth and cheering. If you need to be critiqued (NOT criticized) you will have to either request a critique, or start a new thread.
We all started somewhere.
We all appreciate it when someone is brave enough to put their art work out into the world.
Bravo!

I know what you mean. You did a nice job. I think it's even harder to get a good selfie pic when you are done.

WOW!!! I love your butterfly. It almost looks transparent. Your color blending is great. Are you using 1stokes?
Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
Nikkili, before I even saw the progress post I was thinking "Wow, she's come so far so fast!!!" Beautiful!
Graffiti letters
Nikki-how long did it take you todo the block graffiti letters? Those are great and a great option for teens and boys! I have been practicing letters too. So hard to outline them all!
Everyone has great designs!

Re: SHOW and TELL #7 January - March 2014
I do bday parties, so I never spend more than 10 minutes per kid. my butterflies and tigers are down to less than 5 minutes, so they buy me lots of free time for other designs.
the block letters I used a 1" flat brush, drew out the letters, then jazzed them up with a 1"filbert.that took about 2 minutes-then outlining with white and black took about 7 minutes.
sprinkled some glitter, detailed it with a rake brush and a round brush, done
for the butterfly, I use a sponge cut in half, with a lighter color and darker color on the edge. I use a CONTRASTING 1stroke to make 3 petals along the top wing and in the outer eye corner.
I use a starblend white powder with a lollipop smoothie to apply stencil to the darker color of the base.
I use a fat brush to define and drag blend the outter edge of the butterfly wing.
I use a round brush in white to add dots and details, then I dip the tip into whatever color matches, and draw 1-2 long petals between each big petal on the top wing, and also add 2-3 long petals to the bottom wings, and about 5 petals on the inner corner of each eye.
if the child is sitting really still, I grab a #2 round and draw li bubbles on the lower lash line and thin stripes on the upper brow, then line the whole eye and draw a body with antenna.
if I am still under the5 minute mark, I will jazz it up further with glitter gel and color the lips and top with glitter. It depends how fidgety the kid is-I sometimes skip the stencil if I see they have trouble sitting.

I'm LOVING the leaping lizzie 1stroke, if you don't have it yet, get it!!!it is sooooooooooooooo pretty!
