allergican statistics

Post by transformpaint on Sun Mar 30, 2014 7:33 am

I don't really know where to ask that, but maybe it's best here.

I work on an information paper about allergican reactions (it don't happens often, but anywhere in the world i think there are a few pearsons who are allergic about my paint, and maybe some of those persons will be painted by me, so I give the information I can).

For this information paper I would like to use some statistics or anything like that what tells approximately how many persons don't could use it, and maybe which allergican reactions are most common. I don't find anything like that, but maybe some of you know anything or have any experience.

The colors I normally use is snazaroo or paradise. Sometimes I even use diamond fx.

FACE, The Face Painting Association in the UK keeps a list of all known reactions and problems related to face paints. I suggest you contact them. http://www.facepaintingassociation.com/

I am allergic to perfume, make up and some face paints. I try everything out on myself, first, before it goes into my kit.
I have been volunteering at SickKids Hospital in Toronto for over 16 years. I am tracked closely in the rooms. I have never caused an allergic reaction, spread MRSA, or staph.
There are sheets you can download called MSDS that list all the ingredients in your paints.
Statistics mean nothing to me. If YOU are the one having an allergic reaction, it will not matter if YOU are the one experiencing the allergic reaction.
I don't need to know statistics. I need to know ingredients.

Thanks, I will look at it. I always try on myself to, but only because I don't react it dosn't tell me that OTHER don't do it either. I will put a list of ingredients in the information to, but I think that much people would to know statistics to.

Dear transform paint:
I would follow Shannon Fennell's advice and contact the website link she provided. Shannon Fennell has always provided wise council to those who ask, and she really has your best interest at heart. She wants to make you look good. (And it saves you from retyping all that information for the parents).
MSDS are Material Safety and Data Sheets. These are available from most manufacturers or distributors of your face paints. Print out your MSDS and keep them in your kit. I have only had to hand them to parents five times in 16 years, and for those parents, it has given them peace of mind because they can read the list themselves and discover whether or not our brands of paint have allergy provoking ingredients in the paint for their child.

Happy Painting!

Why, would you bother to give clients the information about allergic reactions?  I mean I get it, but I think your effort is misguided and for the time and expense your efforts could serve you better.

If you adhere to good hygiene standards and practice due diligence you have done all you really can. And that's really all parents want to know. That you are clean and the makeup is safe for use on children.

Perhaps a handout stating just that would serve you better. If parent really wants all that science and legal boring information then they are the type to look it up. List your brands and let them do just that. So instead you hand out a flyer or postcard that states how great and clean and safe and you practice diligent behaviors when it comes to working with children. List your name and how to get a hold of you. This to me would be a far better use of your effort which equals time and money.

Say hey this stuff could cause allergic reaction is inviting concern. And once you have mixed products and brands on someone there is no way to tell which makeup the reaction came from, if it did come from the makeup.

I have very sensitive facial skin and know when I react to the makeup. In 15 years of face painting I have had three reactions. Allergic? I don't think so I it had as much to do with environment as all happened at conventions.

Ditto on FACE a great resource.
