Make-up artist turned face painter

Post by Saskia D on Tue Apr 15, 2014 12:06 pm

Hi, I'm Saskia from South East London.

I am an Australian hair and make-up artist who previously worked in film/tv/freelance, but after having a family have discovered that I really love face painting (despite the massive pay reduction)! I have been practising for about a year and recently entered a few competions. (See my attempts at facebook.com/tigerdragonbutterfly). I am currently looking to get more paid work, increase my speed, attend jams and get more serious. I thought I had exhausted all the youtube tutorial possibitities when I discovered this site and all the endless tips and tutorial links.

Thanks for all the inspiration and I hope I have something to share back one day!

Welcome Welcome!!

I've found the forum to be absolutely invaluable to my learning! If you'd like to hop on over to "new to face paint" we've got a show and tell thread happening, to practice and get feedback on new skills!

Most people also suggest adding a location to your profile, so that you'll be invited to jams and events!

See you in the forums!

Welcome to the Forum!
There is also a game of Face Paint Tag going on in the thread TAG YOU ARE IT! This is a happy little game where it actually helps us honour those weird requests 'on the job'. I once got a request to have a turkey bacon club sandwich painted on a ten year old boys' face.
Happy Painting!

Thanks Smile  The turkey club sandwich sounds horrendous! The Tag game is a great idea though, I'll think about joining that when I'm feeling braver...

Show and tell really is a good starting point if you're nervous! I creeped the forum for weeks deciding if I wanted to join, and then stressed for weeks after that deciding if I wanted to post my first pic!

There's a good mix of new and experienced painters, and I know I've gotten lots of great tips from people in there!

Every single one of us started as a beginner.
I learn things all the time.
My struggle right now
is all things that are computery... posting and sharing pictures.
