Re: Facebook groups
I have one for my business and have had success with friends recommending other friends to become a fan, then booking that way.
I post upcoming public events and lots of photos so people can see what we are doing.
I include the fan Page info on all my emails to clients, at the bottom and it is also on my Links page on my website.

Re: Facebook groups
Whoops, I should say I have a fan page
I think a fan page is probably more suitable than a group... (unless its a group like this fourm where you all contribute)
Its basically just 'word of mouth' and you get your friends and friends of friends.. and friends of friends... joining the group, its endless.
You can pay for extra advertising too which reaches even further a lot faster but then I have never needed that before.
I have a few other facebook pages which I connect with as well and we promote each others pages etc... it works.
If anyone want to check out my face book page Here it is... Linky.

Re: Facebook groups
I'm a Group, not a Fan Page... not sure if I can change that now
Does it really make a difference?

Re: Facebook groups
I prefer the set up of groups over fan pages and I find that it is harder to get to the fan pages than groups... groups are bookmarked for me on the left, but for fan pages, I have to go through my profile page. Besides which, I already have a group and don't want everyone to have to move over to a fan page... you lose people in a move.
Re: Facebook groups
Oh yeah I totally wouldn't bother moving... I think the both work just as well.
For me I like to keep my facebook page updated, I try to post something at least once a week if not daily. As a fan page it comes up on all my fans walls (unless of course they block me) so there are constant reminders to check out the page and easy access.
