Greetings from Indiana

Post by kab on Wed May 14, 2014 8:32 am

Hello everyone!
I'm new to face painting and came across this site several months ago. I've been lurking all of this time, but thought I should come out of the dark and introduce myself. My name is Kathy, I'm 51 years old, and I live in northern Indiana. I've dabbled in art since I was a kid, but only recently considered face painting as a way to earn money. I have not done any gigs yet, but I have to admit that the more I practice (it had been 10 years since I picked up a brush) the more I love it! I think I would do it for free!!! Anyway, I have a 20 year old daughter, a husband and 2 dogs. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you! I have so many questions and have already been able to gleen so much information from this forum. I thank you all!!!

Welcome to the forum! Glad you pulled yourself out of the shadows and joined us ^.^

Don't forget to fill out your profile to include where you are from.

So awesome you are getting back into art again through face painting. I know it's too much fun but PLEASE don't do it for free, because to the public face painting is already free in a lot of places, don't by unpaid volunteers and so forth. Giving it away for free makes it harder for the professionals to convince people of it's value to events! Surely as an artist you understand the general public's ever cheapening view on art. Sure it's fun, but have it be fun and get paid to do it is even better! Smile

Thank you Forrest Fairy. I appreciate the warm welcome. I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow at a neighborhood event, but at a reduced rate. I still don't think I'm quite ready to be called a professional.
Thank you!!!
