Face painting, with a tip jar?

Post by Kw00 on Sun Jun 08, 2014 7:34 pm

There is going to be a little town get-together Saturday night, and I was going to face paint for tips with some Snazaroo paint, and hand out business cards. It will be my first time painting at a public event. What all should I have on hand? How's the best way to do this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would suggest you charge a pay per piece, and not depend on tips alone.

I'm not 'depending' on tips. This is my gift to the community to introduce myself to the town, and get my name out there - with tips welcome. But, thanks.

I just did my first gig in a while, and what I had besides, mirror, paint, brushes and sponges was hand sanitizer, a large jug of water, plastic shot glasses (each child got fresh water), a bucket to dump dirty water in, the thick shop paper towels and baby wipes.

Those shot glasses are a good idea. Thank you!

If you expect LOTS of kids, I suggest having a design board to help move things along. a few simple boy designs, a few girly designs and a few unisex designs. If you donít have pics, just write up a choice menu and that way you can get creative with the design and the time you have on hand.

Oh yeah. I did my designs up in duotangs. I had three and had them pass them back.
