Show & Tell: Oct - Dec 2014

Post by pattyofurniture on Sun Oct 19, 2014 11:35 pm

This is our Cozy Little Corner down the hall from the Pros ;)where we just post anything we've been working on that we want to share.

Everyone has varying skills, so please don't be shy to post....even if you see someone's painting that look waaaaay too amazing.

It just takes PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. You can even see that if you look at some of the pros and what they posted when they first started in the forum.

HAPPY PAINTING, everyone!

love the little dumbo, and the cute pink creature (?), not up on some of the kids' stuff, lol.

star lord is good, a different take on the knight helmet kind of design, and i like the rainbow colors in your butterfly.

I like the Mickey balloon. It looks exactly like the real ones. Very well done. And yes, the colors on that butterfly are amazing.

The dog and Jack are cool! Saved you money and more fun, am curious as to the  quality of the face painting Disney was offering.

Me messing around. Not perfect but I thought he turned out pretty neat after my first try. Sorry the photo is so big; still messing around with images.

nice blend of colors, good sketching and line work Very Happy

when loading images, if you choose the 640 px width (for websites) it seems to be a better size than the default 800 px width (for forums).

Thanks for the critique. It helps. I didn't have any orange so had to play around with the colors. After the picture, I added some gold in the eye and the chin. Looked good, lol

I just posted this in another thread, itty12, but hopefully it'll help you out. To host and post an image:

1.) Click on the "Host an image" button in the comments section.
2.) Select a file to upload by hitting the "Choose file" button, selecting the file on your computer you wish to upload, and then click the "Host it" button.
3.) Select the link listed beside "Image url" and copy it.
4.) Then click on the "Insert an image" button in the comments section.
5.) Paste the link you copied in step 3 in the "URL:" box and then click the "Insert" button.

Hope this helps.

on my cell phone, there is a looong pause after you hit "host it" and before the 3 url's show up, i always think it didn't work and then presto, they appear. (then you can copy the middle url, click on the icon to make the urls disappear, paste the url into the message, and send it.)

you can heat up a snack, clean your closet, knit a pair of mittens, etc while you wait Wink

So, here's how I got around this dilemma...
I just created a Board on Pinterest, with just my designs on it.!! Now, that was Easy Peasey!!
I'm not at the point of a dedicated Facebook page yet. Still learning , mostly on my not so smooth skin  ;/.

I'm sure I'll get the hang of posting on this site eventually , but at least I got a link !! Razz

My first unicorn :)

Post by Niki Chennell on Tue Nov 04, 2014 4:41 pm

My first unicorn. My brushes are really soft so it was hard to get thin lines. I also didn't have black near me so I used brown but didn't like it and put purple on top. Any thoughts??

Hey lovelies!  It's been a while, to the point where most people on this bit of the board mostly likely don't know who I am....which is probably for the best, all things considered.  Wink  Long story short:  I've been painting a couple of years, but had to take a long break to have cancer treatment, and now I'm sort of fighting to regain skills because of chemotherapy nerve damage in my hands.

That wasn't as short as it should've been.  Sorry.  Very Happy

Here's some stuff I've painted in the last few weeks.

Sorry about the bad phone/tablet photos!  Most of the time I practice at night when my little boy's in bed, and I live in Scotland so the light here isn't great at the best of times!  Very Happy

Hope everyone's well and happy.

Aww, thank you so much! Smile The wings' bases are TAG's Foxy base blender, and I did the one-stroke leaf with Cameleon Paintopia, which has similar tones but isn't pearl. Linework was just with a Cameleon dark brown...can't remember which one but it's in the Dermaniac palette.

What a lovely welcome back! Glad to be here. Smile

Dear Kammy:
What happened to your luxurious chestnut coloured chest hair? Did the chemo take that away from you? I understand that you can get chest hair wigs, if you are self-conscious about appearing in public.

xoxox
Going back to my box now, to dink some wine and boink some cookies.

Maybe I kinked too much wine.

Dearest Fessylisa,

Sadly, chemo made all my hair fall out.

All of it.

Think on that for a while.

On the other hand, I do believe that the technology behind chest wigs has come along in leaps and bounds in the last few years, so I'm sure I won't have to be bald for long, should my luxurious chest-locks be slow in regrowth.

Love,

Kammy xx

Dear Everyone Else,

Anyone know where we can get stronger chains and locks for that box in the corner? Fessy keeps escaping!! Wink

Bwahahaha!
This box has no bottom!
You can lock me in here, but I can still shout, um, unless I have cookies in my mouth. Then, I just make a crumbly mess down my front.

Off to bink more wink.
