LOL! No didn't do it the belly henna on myself...just read how I worded that..oops! LOL!
I ordered henna from Amerikan Body Art that is a simpler henna paste recipe for their clients with sensitive skin or who may be pregnant. This henna paste is made with only Lavender Essential Oil.
I also researched about henna on pregnant women and I didn't find any risk other than the smell might be too strong for them so I asked first and she wasn't bothered by the scent at all...she was excited. It was very random and did that design in 15 minutes.
.....
As for practicing on myself with black body paint...I use to practice with the actual henna but then realized that I can only do my left hand/arm bc I'm right handed tongue LOL! and I had to wait for it to fade away each time....so, I decided to practice w/the paints bc I can try out different designs, take pics and then wash it off and start all over. Wink
How are you doing? Are you practicing? taking pics? grabbing people randomly and asking if you can henna them?
Lately, I've been carring around a tube of henna with me whenever I know I'll be around lots of people (gatherings, parties...etc.) and I Henna for free and get free practice out of if and pics Smile ..... that's how I got that first bridal shower gig.
.....
woo-hoo! while typing this I got a phone call to do a gig for a sweet 16 in January for Henna and glitter tatts. (Hope they follow through I really enjoy Henna)
..... bounce

Natural henna is ok to use while pregnant but to be safe I avoid adding any essential oils. I have a pregnant belly on my banner and it gets a lot of attention and I do go through phases where I get a lot of bookings for bellies. I did try to do my own when preg but it kinda sucked. Henna is basically safe for anyone even those with pretty sensitive skin although only if you have mixed it yourself as pre bought paste beside being useless can have scary additives. There is some great research on thehenna page.com My only prob I ever had was a lady that had had an itchy belly prior to being painted and the lemon juice I spray on after stung and itched cause she must have scatched a layer of skin off before I painted her but I also painted her arm with no reaction so she knew it wasn't from the henna. phew!

I've removed the final stage of spraying the lemon juice. I found it didn't make a difference for the final stain & could cause the design to run.

I'm comfortable w/ that as I premix my henna & use the Am Body Art products.

Hello lovely Margie!! You are far too sweet and I was WONDERING where you hid the stain picture. I'm still waiting on the clearer picture so I can add you to my 'guest artist' page!

And you were right on facebook....I've been having a rareing good time with the facepaint!! I did my face for the second time and it turned out pretty good!! (check my gallery on here but I'm probably going to facebook it soon)

I'm learning so much here! I figured I would surf the henna part (after someone let me know there was one) to 'give back' to the forum that has already shown me so much about facepaint!!!

Hope to talk to you soon!

Much love!
