Glitter Question

Post by mespo on Fri Mar 06, 2015 12:41 am

My favorite way to use glitter is in a poofer bottle. The reason is this....if I want to dab some here and there over my slightly damp design, I end up smearing the paint. I tried the method of putting the end of my paintbrush in glitter and rolling it over the area but I have the same problem. If my design is dry, the glitter won't stick. The poofer bottle isn't ideal either because the design dries so fast, so I have to spritz it at the end with water. I feel bad having to do that because it's a little shocking to have water sprayed in your face. Am I doing something wrong? How do you get such a nice glitter look on your designs?

i don't use a poofer, but i've seen youtube videos of people who do, and they glitter areas of the design as they finish them, while the paint is still wet.

yes, the trick is to glitter while the paint is still a bit wet. This some times means not waiting until the very end.

Also if you do need to 'go back' and remoisten the design, a great trick to help with the 'shock' of getting sprayed in the face with your eyes closed is to start from the side of the face and do a few spritz while moving the bottle to the other side. Also you want to be really face back, about an arms length! You really don't need much water to reactivate the paint for glitter.

Also, you can just dampen your finger with a babywipe or a damp sponge to set glitter on a specific spot, that way your finger isn't too wet and smears your design.
