Quitting my job as a dental assistant

Post by Joyous Occasion on Thu Mar 26, 2015 4:55 pm

At first it felt like a waste of money and time that I'm quitting the very position I went to college for... However, There is still hope that I might branch off what I know to another aspect of dentistry. I am talking about the lab part to be specific.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the patients and sometimes my co workers.
However, the environment was too strict for my taste and I got tired of the constant criticism despite how hard I tried to please everyone...

I felt like poor Pee Wee in this segment with the non-stop belittling toward me...

sounds like maybe that office was not the place for you. could be a better dental office somewhere else. i had a friend who had a similar experience, changed offices and it was much better.

Heres the thing... My current employer is "warning" me that I need to get good at her office and that If I leave now then no other office will tolerate me. Sad

All my loved ones say that is just the abuse talking. I hope she is wrong and my loved ones are right.

And Thank you Amy. Smile

well, the only way to find out is to get another job and see.

when i was younger, i lost a couple jobs because i was not good at everything they wanted. i still got hired at the next job, because each job is slightly different, and the people you work for have different expectations.

for the most part, no one is so bad they will never get hired again. your current employer is wrong.

and if you graduated from college with that training, that means you were competent when they sent you out the door.

I have an artist friend that love sculpture, he didn't want to do "commercial art" like digital art, so he is doing prosthesis for wounded veterans or people with disabilities, he loves it as every piece his makes is individual, he fills his soul doing art and makes money.
