Baby Wipes

Post by cowgirlsoul606 on Mon Jun 08, 2015 1:34 pm

Hi Everyone!

I need a little advice. I bought a pack of Huggies One and Done baby wipes for my kit and when I was practicing I used a wipe to clean the top of my Kryvaline Creamy White and it left a horrible residue.... Shocked  So needless to say I'm not too happy with these wipes. They also left my skin feeling raw after i used them to clean the paint off... Evil or Very Mad

Any suggestions on good baby wipes to use for face painting? I was happier with my Dollar Tree wipes than these... but they were so thin it drove me crazy so I'm looking for any suggestion please!!!

Thank you!!! I really appreciate it Very Happy

Forest Fairy had some good advice on Paper towels that has totally switched me out of baby wipes. I use a pump bottle with soapy water (boiling water poured over a bar of ivory soap--let it sit for about 5 minutes--take out the soap & put the cooled water into the bottle). I use the Vivas (the kind that lets you choose your size). I hang a wet micro wipe for my own use on my kit handle & soap my hnds as needed. I am no longer the wipe provider f the event--although I will hand a soapy towel to the rare child who appears with a dirty face---and take the next child in line while they clean up.

I agree with anniel and Forest Fairy on this matter. Although baby wipes are more convenient, many people are allergic to their ingredients and they are a huge money sucker. I don't even use baby wipes on my own babies. I make homemade baby wipes, for my kids and for face painting. You can use the method anniel mentioned, or you can pre-make homemade baby wipes so that you don't have to carry an extra spray bottle.

The worst ingredient to watch for that is now starting to be removed is MI (Methylisothiazolinone) so I look at the label. Ironically, MI is in a LOT of shampoos, sunscreens, lotions and I'm now sensitive to it, because I used baby wipes so much, so you might look at your lotions and potions at home.

For yourself, get some fluffy microfiber cloths to wash off with. I found some that are just like those fluffy pink washcloths that are sold as a car shammies. Smile

Hi,

I ve been reading all of these great tips and I really appreciate them. I was wondering if you can just use ivory soap in a bottle or only the bar soap.
Thank you,
Snazzy

Snazzy
I personally use to bar soap because i know it's totally plain Jane. Most of the bottle ones i find have some kind of added perfume, etc. But if you can find a total plain Jane one in a bottle, than that would work.

I'm allergic to Ivory soap (I know that sounds crazy). Does anyone have any recommendations for other soaps that I could use like this?

Dove soap is actually better than Ivory. Try that.
