Liquid Latex with glitter on top will give you the same effect. What I like about it is that it peels off the same day with very little effort. Check these girls out (I hate the shout-outs but the body art is nice)

I've never used liquid latex before, but I've seen the results of glitter-over-latex in person, and it looks fabulous. Maybe this is the stuff of a new thread.
Before I have a go at this again, is there a trick to photographing glitter? It could just be the type(s) of glitter I was using, but in most of the shots, you can't really tell it's glitter. Or, is it a lighting issue? or both?

I hate liquid latex - it stinks and the dancer I tried it on said it felt 'icky'
She did keep it on for a test shoot but sweat was making it detach before we even finished photos so I don't think I would suggest it to performers the way I do the proadhesive glitter tatts. I watched someone do it last month at a body comp...the other thing I couldn't be bothered with was having to do several coats of latex before it was strong enough to cover properly. I don't have the time/patience at most gigs.
Plus there are the allergy issues, we aren't even allowed to use latex 1st aid gloves or sticking plasters in the UK now, just in case!
The pro adhesive/ glues are a lot easier to use as well, I think they are sort of 'finer' or more liquid or something.
Re photos, I had a lot of pro photographers say 'no glitter', but talking to others, that is just them being lazy/ unsure of what to do. If you have a look at the albums on my www's glitter albums and in the blog (can I post this here? if not, sorry...) http://bodypaintingbycat.co.uk/ you can see the differences in my attempts and asstd photographers. It does show it is glitter but you really only get the sparkly effect (but not the true colour!) in video. Some are on my youtube, links on the www.

Re: How to do full Body Freehand glitter tatts - sort of
Sorry, I just found this thread, so I know I'm a bit late to the game... Cat, I LOVE love love your stuff! I found your site a few months ago and was enthralled. Thank you so much for the how-tos!
I do have two questions though...
First, adding the paint to your glue... is the reason you do that just so you can see where you put the glue and so it doesn't last as long? Is there a down side to having colored glue? Does it affect how long the glue will last?
And second, will light colored glitters still look right over colored glue? If I make my glue a blue color, will my silver glitter still look like silver or will it turn blueish?
I guess that was a few questions rolled into one, but I am curious, and definitely want to try it out! I love your squeeze bottle idea for the glue also... so much easier than using a paint brush that's solid!

Hi & thanks!
Basically, I do big, intricate designs and yes, if the glue isn't coloured, its extremely hard to see where you have painted it on - it dries invisible, just with a slight sheen.
Re if it will afect glitters on it, test it. All glitters are different! I prefer the effect metallic opaques have so only use them.
And yes, it makes the glue far easier to take off, it won't last as long. That was deliberate, with lots of experimenting to get it about right, as all the models/ performers I do them on want the costume to last a day but be fairly easy to get off. Same with the adults at ball, etc, I do smaller freehands on - most are not wanting it to last a week!

Haven't seen you around in ages, Cat! It just so happens I thought about you today... I started new hobby. She's not done yet, but I'll show ya what you started!

I wanted to have a go at fashion doll repainting... a way to make my body art ideas last. These models don't need to pee, don't get cold, and won't want to take a shower at the end of the day! (Oh, and the hair is like that to set it for "perming" later)

So, thanks for the inspiration!
