UV Noob Questions

Post by Kal on Wed Aug 12, 2015 10:35 am

Ok guys! I've got Halloween fever so bad already. Anyone else?

My husband has agreed to be Ghost Rider... EEK!!! I want to make him a masterpiece in daylight and under blacklight. I've never used UV paint before so I'm looking for guidance. I also need to dig up my old thread about painting hair and see what you guys said.

Any and all information on the use of UV paint and application techniques will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

since no one has chimed in yet, i'll share what i've noticed from google images. i have only tried snazaroo uv in daylight, very faint color, not recommended.

different uv face paints may show up different shades under uv, and some are brighter than others. you can google them by brand to see swatches.

There are no differences in direct application of UV reactive makeup vs matt colors. The best tip is to paint in some UV (need not be full) light. That way you can actually see your results. There are now a few brands of UV reactive makeup out there, but do not under estimate tried and true Kryolan Dayglow.

Ok so after reading that blog I'm wondering if I should get a Kryolan Yellow and orange for the flames and go over the white skull part with one of the clear paints?

How would you pros go about this?

The only UV I have used is Global. The orange, yellow, and pink are outstanding in daylight AND black light, the green is decent in daylight, blue and purple aren't much good in daylight, but blue, purple, and green show up wicked good under black light too. As to Halloween fever already......YES!!

No, I haven't. The site that I purchased the Orange from had some remarkable good descriptions and said it's very transparent in daylight, but super glows under a black light.
