Trying to build a network in Chicago
Hi all, I'm in Chicago and I haven't been painting here for that long, so I'm not really sure who's who. I've met a few painters, but I'm trying to put together a group of painters I can refer work to when needed; which has been a lot lately. I prefer not going out to the suburbs too often, so those are usually the jobs I refer out. Maybe some of you in the burbs that don't like coming into the city?
Also, I was thinking about getting regular painting jam together in the city. Let me know if any of you are interested.

Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
There is mention of a midwest guild in the events section:
http://www.facepaintforum.com/north-central-usa-f13/chicago-area-face-painting-jam-t1324.htm
But I've never been. The day job keeps me close to home during the week.

Nice website Clayton. On your gallery, what color blue did you use on your first photo?
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
Clayton, I felt the same way and followed Lilly Walters advice to network with the local face painters in Northern Va, Washington DC and Maryland with a local forum. We only have 30 members so far since it started in January but its great for referrals & finding out what is happening in our immediate area.
I put out a plea for a painter on the major forums and got replies from PA but found someone locally within a few hours on the local forum and so did others, so its well worth having! I set up ten fun photo albums any member can add to and keep everyone up with what they missed in addition to the personal albums they can create.
The fun monthly contest is inspirational and you get to know the winning artist who is spotlighted on the front page. The links section is great for local talent & vendors. Feel free to join and check out the Washington, DC Metro Face Painter's Forum as a reference http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DCMetroFP/

Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
I'm from WI, I've considered joining the midwest painters guild. They seem to be somewhat active. They're evening offering a Wolfe Brothers Class this March. I don't think they meet in the city at all?
Thanks

That is Wolfe Metallic Blue; my absolute favorite color. It blends incredibly with paradise silver
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
Clayton - I'm in the NW burbs of Chicago (St Charles) and welcome networking opportunities. Have you ever been to the jams 2nd Tue/month @ Woodfield/Ruby Tuesdays? They're wonderful & talents of all levels. I've made some wonderful contacts through there and am starting to get busy already considering I'm just getting started. Feel free to PM me if you're still interested in networking. Looking forward to meeting you! (BTW - your work is wonderful!)
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
Oh, you must know Mirae then. She keeps trying to get me out there. Perhaps after summer.
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
I know OF her, met briefly once or twice, but haven't really connected with her yet. Let me know when you get a chance.
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
I would be more than willing to make the trip down to Chi town for a jam, class etc. Please keep me in the loop.
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
Annette - 2nd Tue/month @ Ruby Tuesdays/Woodfield Mall 5-10pm. Great fun, meet a lot of peeps & learn a lot. Come join us...
Re: Trying to build a network in Chicago
I am near Midway Airport. I would love to be a part of a jam.
I tried the Midwest Face Painters, but some of their jams were
in the NW suburbs, too far out for me.
