de-potting snazaroo

Post by BendyBeauty on Fri May 13, 2016 12:23 pm

I noticed that several people have mentioned to be careful regarding types of container to use when de-potting Snazaroo paints into palettes or other pots.
Does anyone know if I will be OK to use an acrylic container? I like all of my kit palettes to match and I don't want to have to go and find another different type just for this brand of product.

Thanks!

here's an older thread on that, apparently polypropylene is ok. polypropylene is thick but somewhat flexible, used in containers like yogurt and margarine tubs.

i put the remnants of several snaz cakes side by side in the clear plastic package cover (blister pack) from a pack of paint brushes, and it's fine. i looked up kinds of plastic packaging, and blister packs and clam shells are often polyvinyl chloride (pvc), #3 recycling code.

My palettes are the hard see-through acrylic rather than the flexible yogurt pot type. Like vue-set make-up palettes but with larger wells suitable for paints.

not sure about acrylic, couldn't find any info when i googled various search terms on lanolin and acrylic.

although i'm not a chemist, my suspicion is that lanolin in the snaz face paint reacts with or dissolves certain plastics, causing them to crack. my snaz lids cracked when i used them as mixing palettes for the paint.

if someone else doesn't answer, i suppose you could do a test with some snaz in a small acrylic container and see what happens.
