Has anyone done Flea Markets for face painting?

Post by ArtStylez on Mon Jun 13, 2016 9:15 am

Hey there,

I have an opportunity to do a flea market and was wondering if anyone has done a large flea market? If so, how was your success? Did you continue on multiple times at the flea market?

I am trying to get my business going, which seems hard here, and figured maybe the flea market can help promote my business.

Everything is hit and miss. Flea and Farmers market have proved a bit win for some I know and others a loss. Go out and give it a try, it's really the only wany you will know. And it will take sometime for folks to know you're therre and to come looking for you, so try to really give it a run.

I dislike the being locked in but one of my staff likes doing airbrush tattoos at a flea market.

Thanks, yea I will try it out. The good thing for the flea market is that they don't do a lock in, instead you come at a specific time and pay $20 for a table or 30/40 for an outdoor space, so no lease attached. I'll be working on my boards this weekend to be ready the following weekend. I do go to this flea market occasionally and there's always kids there, plus it is always a large crowd. So hoping it works for a while.

I believe markets work, if we are consistently there. When I plan to be away from my Monday market, I call and ask another, very talented painter (WhooHooooo! Shout out to Angela Albright!) if she can make the market.
Happy Painting!

I tried one of the large Mom to Mom sales a couple months ago and it was not worth my time... after the $40 business table fee I might have made $40 max... lots of people are looking for cheap bargains... but every event is different and I know some people do farmer's markets very frequently.
