Help! Face paint is now mooshy!

Post by Truecolorspainter on Sat Aug 13, 2016 11:43 am

So I painted a gig a little while back and it was super hot, but then rained, and my paints got rained on before I could get them covered. I store them lids off in paint trays. I pulled them out today to make sure everything was ready for a gig this evening and some of them are still super squishy. Any advice? What can I do to fix them?

Hello,

I sometimes have this problem with my blacks, I would leave them open and uncovered to air dry some of the moisture out. I also put mine in the fridge sometimes if it has been hot to help it harden up Smile

well, it's after this evening, so too late for this, but for a quick solution you need dryness and maybe heat. warm setting in an oven, or a dehydrator, or several hours in front of a fan.

We use a food dehydrator for our mooshy, squishy face paints. The next morning, they are pristine. We each have three pots of white and two of black and we each swap out the paint when it goes all blarfy.

I prefer the glycerin based paints. Paradise, Snaz, etc. The only time I get mooshing is when it 123,000 degrees outside or if the temp is normal and I accidentally set a cake in the direct sun. Placing them in a cooler spot for a while helps tremendously. I usually set them on top of my cooler, under my table (which is covered by a big lovely table cloth) and refrain from using them for a while.

I just leave mine w/out covers all the time. It's plenty hot & humid here in Florida. When I leave them in the A/C overnight at home, they dry out.

At 123,000 degrees it is possible that your paints have turned into molten lava and may erupt like a volcano soon. I recommend joining Fessy for a cookie until they cool off and solidify.

Wait! Am I supposed to SHARE my cookies??!!??!
Nobody told me this!
I took a small bite out of every single cookie and put them back in the bag.
Yes, I WILL share my slightly used cookies.
