Great question! Good to ask it again Lauri!

For me it's just hobby. i can spend hours just putting all the paints on the table and trying the colours and make combinations. So relaxing. I love children and enjoy painting them, but I'm glad I can do it whenever I want to. I don't have to. I have a job and I'm married, so we have a double income household.

During the summer it was out only source of income (family of 4) We just started our business- and so far good. Our first gig was the 4th of July last year. I am so excited for this next season. During the winter we needed to add a 15hr a week receptionist type job to make the ends meet. My husband is working on a novel.
Some think we are crazy, but I am hoping after this next summer we will keep on growing!

I work full time at a casino in Atlantic City. I love entertaining children and I've been a clown for over 20 years now. I find more people wanting just face painting than the whole clown experience. I love being creative but I can't find enough work to be a full time entertainer. Lately I've been getting a lot of opportunities to market my business while providing free services. Hopefully the economy will turn around soon and I can expand my business.

Second of three incomes for me..... I currently hold three jobs. Systems Analyst, ESL Instructor, Face Painter and Balloon Artist.

My corporate job pays the bills. FP and ESL income are my play and extra money! Although sometimes it has to be used for food and gas and/or other bills. I really love what I do!

Just a part time fun thing for me, I don't need the job but I enjoy it, I have so much fun I should be paying them

My full time career that I worked so very hard for my degree is what supports me, not to mention I'm currently working on my second Bachelors.

So yeah, busy busy.

yep, at the moment this is my only income.

I've been doing it on and off for 20 years, but it was just over a year ago I talked it over with my husband that I really wanted to kick it back into top gear and try to make a real job out of it.  I had a job 2 years ago, for the year, in my chosen field, and not having an income really hurts.

I have to say it has been an interesting year or so.  Because I wasn't hitting it hard as a business for so long and did it just to suit myself, I didn't bother with anything more than the occasional market or for school.

I now have a nice little client base, and getting my name back out there.  It feels strange when painting kiddies, that I find out I painted their mum's 20 years ago.  lol Very Happy That the mums remember me, and fondly, is a wonderful thing.

It's interesting also the emails and phone calls from other face painters checking out your prices etc. Shocked tongue

I am off tomorrow, for 3 weeks, to the USA.  When I get back is the beginning of the stupidly busy time for me. I still love the look on kiddies faces when they see themselves for the first time after being painted.  It is so rewarding.  But also when I get back I will be looking for a regular job, so that it takes the pressure of me with the painting.

I graduate from university in September, so I should be able to get a reasonable job.  Sadly not in my chosen field.  There are only 40 jobs in Australia for my specialty and I am number 43.  Oh well.

Lucky for me, my husband is a professional, and earns enough for our basics, but the extra makes it a little easier.

Cheers

Wow, I never realized how miraculous...this is my income, as a single mom, with 2 kids still at home. NICE. (Jesus loves me...)

(Nope, no child support).
