Saterday Morning Practice

Post by ChrisD on Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:34 pm

During the week I saw MarvelousMasks' Green Reaper U-Tube vid, so I decided to try it.

At first my daughter did not want a scary mask, and would only let me paint her arm. So I did a monster arm, and after the arm she enjoyed it so much she wanted the face.

I said this before about the tiger paws, but kids REALLY enjoy the arms/hands, and they are quick and easy to do. After doing the tiger one I had been waiting for a chance to try a monster claw in conjunction with monster face.

Then I painted my other daughter with flowers and a rainbow and then I took them with me to Bunnings' (our local hardware mega store), to buy a few things. It turned out they had a big family day there with 3 different face painting companies there, clowns, and the local radio station. It was a bit of a laugh because everone said my painting was much better. The local factory face painters were there, and had to keep telling people they could not do the faces my children had. I do not like them much because they only give there staff a few hours training, three brushes and a bunch of acrylic paints, and yet they get most of the work in town. Had a few business cards in my pocket so handed them out to everyone who asked about my childrens' faces.

Timing is everything and you were truly blessed that day, showing off your marvelous work the competition couldn't touch! Only too cool!

Hi Chris,
Nice work on the Bunnings brigade!! Should visit every weekend just to really get under their skin, make it a Saturday ritual.

Thought I'd share with you a couple of photo's my man took while we were at the show.

P.s. Your daughter makes the prettiest monster I have ever seen! Would be impossible to make that innocent face scary!

Look at our huge queues!!! LMAO

Thanks for the photos Tash; I calculate I did about 70 faces over the show, not good for 3 full days. But I enjoyed the experience, and got some good practice in, so I do not regret doing it. It was good to socialise with another painter.

On the last day I did my left arm as full tiger arm complete with paws, like yours was on Saterday. It was a good move as it was a ice breaker with the lttle kids, they just loved the arms and paw. I'll used it as my face painting identifier from now on. Monster one loooks good, but tiger is less scary for little kids.

Awesome! Toting your kid around painted is like having a billboard! I loved it when my daughter would still let me paint her, and we'd do some errands. Everyone would ask her about her face and who did it!

And you know, I think if you did go down here enough, with painted kid in tow, business cards, and a bit of education about acrylic paints, a bit of karmic retribution would happen to those factory chaps.
