if you have a board, you have the option of telling them, "I haven't learned that one yet, could you pick from one of these?"

I have sample pictures and I still get some odd requests. I make the decision on the spot as to whether or not I'm willing to try something or not.

I'd say the weirder ones for me are when they ask if I can paint them like a character or actor that's just a person with no real distinguishing characteristics... like, no I can't make you look like another person. And at my last big event there were two kids that both wanted the Lebanese Flag on their face... I said, I don't know what it looks like and doesn't their dad have it as the wallpaper on his cell phone?

Going off menu is my favorite! Or, it is when I'm not super busy and can work out something on the fly. Keeps those creative juices flowing... You don't know you can't do an elephant until you've tried.

If im asked to do something that i don't know, I usually ask them to provide a photo of it, the down side of that is when they whip out a cell phone with the image they want done and I still can't do it. For example a photo of their boy friend, all taken in half light with blury moncrome colors. Rolling Eyes

I think the weirdest was a little boy, maybe 4 yr old, wanted a door on his arm.

I know this is an old thread but I just had to answer this.

I did a community 'fun day' in a local council estate and there were alot of travellers there (Irish gypsies)... the weirdest when the little girls started to ask for crosses and tombstones with the names of dead relatives Shocked

Usually uncles who'd died in feuds and car accidents and some of them had lists of four and five relatives!! And when one asked for it they all started.

It wasn't from a child, but a young adult (maybe a bit older than myself), and it was at a grown up festival. A girl came up and requested a willy on her face. I said yea, no bother, but was curious as to why, turns out she was bet 50 quid by "the lads" that she would't be brave enough! Turned out pretty funny!

Another time, my cousins little boy wanted to be half dog- half horse! He didn't sit still for more than a split second, so it didn't really look like either!

Someone asked me to paint a cigarrette hanging out of their mouth (an adult event, thank god)

This weekend I had someone ask if I could do a wiener dog...I said no one had ever asked, and I could add it to my To Paint list...she also seemed mildly offended that the nail artist she had do a sample on her nail, couldn't do a wiener dog. Really? A wiener dog on her nail?

Also had a girl who wanted lots of little skulls, a keyhole, key, and a line running from her chin up to the bottom of her nose for no apparent reason. Her mom and I got her to agree on one skull, keyhole, key, swirls, and lipstick with sparkles, haha.

Kids come up with the oddest requests like the one who just moved to Virgina and was homesick. He wanted Carolina Pine trees across his face! "No problem!" I said, as I love a challenge!
Little did anyone know that I am a Certified Bob Ross Instructor and created the trees with a fan brush over a sunset base with two little "m" birds in the traditional wet-on-wet technique that also works great with face paint. Wish I had time to get a photo during that gig!

I had a 13yo boy as for my unicorn mask. I asked if it was a dare, he said no. I asked if his dad was ok with it, he said yeah. I asked why the mask? He said b/c he thought it looked cool and that it looked pretty fun to get, so why not Very Happy

Last month a jam in chantilly, Kerri Caldwell got some boy teens in. One wanted a cheeseburger painted on his face and had very specific instructions (meat had to be on the mouth so that when he talked it moved, sesame seads on the bun, dont forget the bacon, etc...). His friend wanted a dollar bill on his face and another i think was a tiger.... too funny!

The weirdest request was from a a very weird mom.... She wanted her little boy to have flowers all over his face(I know he wanted a Spiderman). I wanted to scream at her, "Flowers?! Come-on now Lady! Really?! Do you want him to get beat up when he goes to school?!" The whole party she wouldn't let her boy play like the other boys... no balloon swords, no running or playing rough. I felt sorry for the kid.
Now, I compromise. No child will have anything painted they don't approve of & no child can get something their parents don't approve of.
