Re: Rainbow, arty & split cakes?
If you don't like the color combos you made, you can undo them. I like to take a brush & swipe the colors next to eash other on my arm. If I like the combo, then I make it. You can also look at other cakes you like & try to imitate them(sorry, copy is such a bad word:-) Show us some of your results?
Re: Rainbow, arty & split cakes?
Psalm it was my "so called" attempt at thinking "Out the Box" .......(chuckles @ self) tyring to come up with combos that hadn't been done or at least I had seen. Who was I kidding??? I don't know maybe it's because I used the snaz....and I am not a big fan of snaz....as they don't cover well at least to me.
I will get pics up later today.

I think you have some very nice ones. Would be nice to know the color combos so we can "permanently borrow" your work. Nice slippers by the way.

I can't see what's not to like. I'm loving the 1st one on the left! It reminds me of the ocean. I kindof like the one in the center too. They're all good colors!
Re: Rainbow, arty & split cakes?
I love the colors that you used. I really like the blue green and yellow???? the one in the middle!
Re: Rainbow, arty & split cakes?
Yeah, I like them all, Changing. You shouldn't give up making the split cakes - save yourself a lot of money. Now, you can easily use those ones all up in making rainbow butterflies, backgrounds for quick eye designs that you do in black or white linework, tropical background with black silhouette linework on top - etc. Stick a bit of glitter on top after the linework (or before) and you've got some quick, impressive designs.
Yeah! I'm so fired up with the idea, I'm off to try for some quick split cake designs myself! See ya!

Look at those petal shapes you've made in the first pic - they'd make great flowers, wouldn't they? Very 60s and 70s-ish looking psychedelic flowers - cool!

Melissa, about the black taking over - when I use a wide brush on these cakes, I steer well to the side away from the black, so that you are only getting a sliver of it at the very edge of the brush. I spritz the cake, and then while loading the brush, decide if it needs more, and then just spritz more until it's right.

Tash, I agree that they are too small and fiddly. Here's what I'm going to do, and maybe some of you might like to try this. I'm going to get a piece of plywood or other strong, thinnish material, cut it to about a laptop palette size, paint it black, and glue pieces of velcro on both the bottoms of the arty cakes and the plywood, positioning them where I want them, of course, before gluing. Can you make sense of this?
They will stay firmly in place while you use them, but of course the setup is very versatile, because they can be taken off to refill, or exchange for other, more favourite cakes.
