If you are working with less than $500 of actual kit... sure, put the money in the bank instead... but, keep an eye on value of what you have... and remember that it is EVERYTHING you use. Signs, tables, photo displays too. All of that would add up if you lost it all at once and had to rebuild from scratch.

So just to clarify: $210 for performers insurance which will also cover us a festivals/fairs where we have a booth and sell our service? And it covers glitter tattoos? Just want to make sure as I want to buy insurance. Although I've never had an incident YET, I want to be covered just in case.

My daughter's insurance was under Performers of the US. As a minor, they were the only ones I could find that would insure a minor. Both the Society of American Magicians and International Brotherhood of Magicians denied her coverage because she was under 18.

BluAngl as far as the venue, you're correct. I believe that glitter tats would fall under face painting/body art. You should give Stephanie a call to be sure.

I am somewhat torn, because just a rough "guestimate" I would say my kit is worth about $700.00. Although the majority of the initial outlay of cash was not mine as most items were purchased for me as gifts or by my company, but still to replace would be on me.........unless???? you think I could really get my company to foot the bill again.... lol Very Happy

So to clarify, I have a booth with table and chairs, signs, etc. My daughter and I do Face painting together, she is a minor still. So I would buy the vendor's insurance and it would cover everything? If I have my adult son join us and do balloons he would still be covered under my vendor's insurance?
My other is insurance is running out and is $550. so I would like to go for a less cost if it will cover me.
Thanks

Where do people get their insurance in Canada. I've been trying to find CAFABA again but can't and am wondering about clowns of Canada.

Sam I Am - check out Duck for Cover insurance for entertainers (Australian) - duckforcover.com.au. There are 3 categories of activities, and you pay according to the highest risk category. Face painting and temporary tattoos are in Category 2, and the rate is about $165 AUD.

As far as insuring your kit goes you have to take into account the cost of getting it completely replaced.

In the last 2 months I have heard of two cases of painters loosing kit by opportunist thieves(kit boxes etc.), which I have never heard of in the previous 4 years. In view of the current economic climate this is only going to escalate.

Also insurers are advising that kits cannot be left overnight in cars as this would void insurance.

I recently took a note of all my paints as I was taking a small kit to a conference and didnt want to buy duplicates in the dealers room. I was staggered by how much I had actually acquired and how much it would cost for a new kit to the same standard.

One Snazaroo jumbo palette is $70.00, that does not include sponges or brushes, kit box, mirrors etc

Thanks Shannon, my local company has been insuring me but it went from $350 to $400 and I figured there had to be a better way.
