Had fun 'Jammin' in BC, Canada
Kristal and I got to meet finally at our jam session in Langley. She's in Surrey and I'm in Mission (about an hour or so apart). So we met halfway. What we didn't expect was not every restaurant WANTS free facepainting. We were going to meet at ABC Restaurant (a family restaurant) and I called ahead to make sure they were OK with us meeting there and practicing a bit. 'Nope'. They were not interested and never would be...apparently they have an older clientelle. Weird, cuz I just met with the owner of the Mission ABC today and he's booked me for the next month and he's paying me.
Anyway, Kristal found a place for us to meet 'Me 'n Ed's Pizza' and although it was quiet, we found a few kids to paint. It was fun to chat about the business in our local area and discuss opportunities to grow. We looked at our set ups and tried out paints. Kristal gave me some tips on line work and made the cutest balloon bugs for my girls. I told her not to show me too much balloon stuff cuz I can't afford to add another obsession to my life
Thanks Kristal! I'm really glad we finally got to meet ... looking forward to next time and Melanie got back to me that she'd love to join us then.
Kristal's ladybug is attacking us!

Not my most flattering photo...

I made a sign for us, loosely based on the 'Space Jam' logo (the kids movie):

It was great to meet you, too! I ended up staying later - they had a party coming in, and I put a min donation balloon up - did a handful of faces, gave out some cards, and got some photos.
I spoke with our server after, and she's all for the idea of trying a night out - so I'm going to email the manager and see what we can do! Did you talk to him when you first got there? In retrospect I should have said hi, but I got caught up in painting first...whoops.
At any rate, the one supervisor who was there seemed really receptive, and our server is for it, and neither seem to be able to think of why we SHOULDN'T - so fingers crossed!
Good times! We should have taken more photos...bunk. Haha. Next time.

True! The big thing when talking to managers is to be confident and let them see the win win in the arrangement. They're just employees too. I didn't talk to anyone when I got there because I saw the 3 girls and they were excited to get painted right away...I'm easily distracted too
It'll be a great regular gig .... yay!
