Help Please! :)
Hey everyone. I have a man coming over tomorrow to get torso painted like a tiger. I had a friend come over and I practiced on him and well, I did it OKAY and this was just an obvious quick rush trial but I guess I just want some pointers on blending.... Any tips would be great... please and thank you

Re: Help Please! :)
I would do some big "furry" looking strokes of white out onto the orange to make it look more fluffy. You could do it with just a brush after you're done sponging everything.
Re: Help Please! :)
Use a far far bigger brush for the black lines, that size of lines you have there would work on the face but bodies need bigger/ more impact.
And there should be more long solid ones. Think of a tiger skin rug, it has almost a solid line down the spine with stripes heading off from it. This is 1 of the 1st (fantasy) tigers I did as a 1 hr pay per face body for fans at the Rugby 7s years ago but you can maybe see where I was heading...
Also try to blend some orange or brown in, tigers are not yellow, and the extra colour adds depth. Maybe make the divide between your yellow & white more blended, or fluffier...this is an extreme fluffy example but it helps with the fur look

Your stripes will have more impact if they have a bit more of a direction/ purpose. This is a quick awful chest paint I did at a club night last month to try to explain what I mean for the lines...the blending is rubbish as its UV done in the dark, but you get the idea of the almost symmetrical longer lines...
Have fun tho, its a great one to paint...

Definetly try and get some more oranges, browns, and rusts in there if you have them to get it a more realistic look.
Also, can you go minimalist like the UV painting cat did? Smaller arean would mean more detail and certainly not so overwhelming.
Also, don't for get the white highlights on stipes and I find it effective to put some white dots in the stipes as well, here and there. Pull it all together with something small around the eye area.
Here is a quick sample I threw together. A couple of markings I use with the dots and highlights over a blended base of yellow, orange and red.
