Now what do I do?

Post by Metina on Sat Mar 13, 2010 7:44 pm

As you can see I have two neon cakes that are rather worn down, but still have some paint in it. I keep thinking just throw them out and get a new one, but I just CAN'T bring myself to do it. I keep thinking there is some way to salvage this, but I am not cutting up new cakes and refilling.

Any thoughts?

I know how you feel (although I'd cut and refill, haha) - why throw out perfectly good paint?

Because you can likely still get some good colour from them just from the edges, I'd probably keep them to use on myself before jobs. (When I got my giant bags of glitter, I poured them into bottles, but I kept the bags themselves - and yes, I use leftover bag glitter on myself. I'm a bit thrifty like that Razz)

What if you just cut out the colors that are there and put them in mini dfx cake containers? It looks like you have enough to easily fill a couple of those.

Dig out the individual colours and add to larger cakes of the same colour... or similar.

I've put remnants of hot pink into the holes in a larger cake of pink etc. Gives a bit of punch to the main colour.

I would just mush the colors into larger cakes of corresponding colors... or use them in new mini-split cakes...

Um... personally, it would become my new lipstick cake, but that's just me. I mean, you've got like 6 colors there... Why not?

I always just add remnants to the top of my new replacements, so that no makeup gets wasted, except the little bit that gets on the knife I use to dig it out, and whatever gets on my hands.
For the rainbows, you just need to line up the colors.

I got two words for you...

Ex Acto!

I'd cut each color and make a mini, or some color dippy pots. I loves me some exacto knives!
