1 minute designs

Post by Metina on Mon Mar 29, 2010 12:15 pm

Hiya,

I hate to ask, but am in a bind. I took a job thinking I am going to wow them with my 3+ balloons designs and he now tells me that he wants simple 1-2 ballons designs that can be done super fast. I was advised that the 1 balloon designs have little wow factor and only learned a few.

I have a list of about 10 that I have been working up and can put quick wings on most or put them in a basket for a little wow.

Any quick designs that you have that are super fast, but still get a lot of aahhs from with a quick pic would be most appreciated. I would really like to have a solid list of 20 going into this job.

Also, to help things speed up I was going to do some prep work ahead of time. Like making the flowers and add the stems on site, making up the princess heads ect. Just to help things go faster. I wouldn't always do this, but this job has the potential to have lots more during the summer if it goes well. Any tips on what helps a lot or what to avoid would be helpful as well.

Thanks!
-Metina

Well, one minute... I don't know... I like to think I twist pretty fast but the only thing I do in ONE minute is maybe a dog.

As far as good one balloon designs go to www.balloon-animals.com and the designs are sectioned off by how many balloons they use. I've got pretty much all of the one balloon designs from there in my repertoire and most of the videos are pretty good.

Most of mine are one balloon type: dog, cat, rabbit, giraffe, elephant, parrot, tiger/lion, monkey, alligator, bee/butterfly, turtle/lady bug bracelet, broad/pirate sword, etc...I gotta say though the most popular are the dog, swords, cats, and giraffes...once one kid gets a dog, half of the others will follow along just b/c (kinda like face painting)

I have a new magic wand that I am loving. and I have a cute elephant, lady bug and turtle. These are all balloons that with practice you can do in about a minute. I will post more later

The dots are the fantastic of fantastic. What makes the world go round and turns brothers into frogs. Magic or in other words cake sprinkles. kids and parents love it when you make balloons have sounds when they do not expect it. I have also used glitter that is fun too. when using sprinkles I fill it up all the way and then I let air out to make it a little softer.I use it in magic wands, water guns, baby rattles, swords, just about anything. I have even put them into harts on top of flowers. You can also make a talking alien or a buzzing bee with a nut inside of a balloon so when you swirl it around it will talk.

Oh that is AWESOME!!!!! I have heard of using rice, but that is the bomb! Thanks MEGAN!

How do you get it in there, do you do the balloons ahead of time, or do you do it on the spot? I saw another twister, Kathy Breeze, and she prefills balloons with rice and stores them nozzle up in a little tuperware cup with a lid.

Also, what size are the clear rounds? I need to put in a quick order today!

Come on, I need all your little secrets! Embarassed

I do not pre fill my balloons. I have done that at a big event and it was a disaster! All of the glitter spilled out before we even started. If you get an empty squeeze bottle (ketchup bottle, honey, they also sale them in the cake decorating area) and fill that with glitter or sprinkles make the whole a bit bigger for sprinkles and fill your balloons as needed. It will keep you from loosing all of the work that you did to pre fill your balloons. I usually use a 5 in clear round but I am really liking how it looks with a 6 in clear heart but I cant find them here. Also if you use a clear 260 for water guns so the kids can see their ammunition. I came up with the idea with i was making a gum ball machine bracelet. You can put them into pretty much anything. I try to stay away from balloons that have a ton of twists though the sprinkles can pop it, doesn't happen very often but you never know.

Oh I forgot to say. A friend and I found a dealer here that is selling us sprinkles for pretty cheap. It probably wont help you for this job but if you would like I can send you some later. Oh for this job don't buy sprinkles from the super market if you can help it. they are really really expensive. If you have a culinary store close they usually sale the sprinkles 6 to 7 dollars for a pound.

If you really want WOW for flowers in a minute ... Use the Geo Blossom balloons. 2 balloon flower, and always get an extra bit when you're working for tips because NO one has ever seen this type of balloon.

I have never (EVER!) done balloons or thought about doing them until I saw these! The flower ones are phenomenal! Where can these be purchased and where do I get Geo blossom balloons?
