Okay I dug waaaaay back into my photo albums for these!! These are all done for Halloween parties, long before face painting was really being done other than at Halloween.

My husband in 1987:

Me in 1989 - you can't really see it in the pic but I had flowers and a peace sign on my face (I was also 50 lbs lighter than I am now!!):
[img][/img]

My husband in 1989 - he wanted the same design again, I think I did it better this time. It's so hard to paint over a mustache, and he has always had one!

My best friend in 1989:

I have a couple more, I will put them in a second post.

Okay here are a couple more of my really old pics. I'm actually very proud of these ones, considering I was using whatever crappy Halloween makeup they sold in the department store 20 years ago.

My husband in 1990. We had found some rubbery sort of "gore effects" that you had to glue on with spirit glue. The effect was more ridiculous than gory but we tried.
[img][/img]

Me in 1990 as a glitter kitty. I still have the sparkly gold bowler hat around here somewhere... I had used those big chenille bumps bent in half to make ears that were sticking out on the brim of the hat hat, you can't see it in the pics but it looked cute. One of my kids wore that hat as a kitty a few years ago... I am SUCH a packrat!!

I painted my first face today! And here they are:

Lemme know what you think. Smile

My brave friend Verinder, who had never been painted before and was totally charmed. She was giggling and didn't want to remove it. I'd call it a success! I'd love some input though. Smile

I did a tiger first:

Then we did a green, pink, purple butterfly - which I forgot to photograph because we were laughing too much.

Then I tried out a spider, without her able to see what I was doing - she wasn't jazzed (because she's scared of them and I did it to mess with her - that's what friends do, right?) but she smiled big anyway!

And then I tried some flowers, just making it up as I went based on the tutorials I've seen and stuff. And a shark... that I rested my hand on. So... lesson learned.

I was using an almost entirely Paradise AQ set - the basic palette plus purple, grey, pink and light green, and one Star Blend white.

I officially hate star blend.

Thank you so much!! Haha, you have no idea how nervous I was, considering the initial investment I made I was terrified I would suck. Well, maybe you do. Everyone here has been a newbie too!

Punky - I'm new to face painting, for sure! But, I've been painting for about ten years using acrylics and oils. So I have a bit of a leg up in terms of holding a brush and picking up or adapting techniques. But the makeup itself is a whole new beast for me! It is harder than it looks, definitely.

Ahh... so there's the advantage! LOL, I know the feeling. The first time I took an oil painting class I'd already been face painting for 5 years and the lady teaching the class refused to beleive I'd never oil painted before, lol.

LOL!!! These pics are all great! My first face ever was just a few weeks ago! I am brand Spankin' New to the world of face painting and I have to say, I LOVE IT!!! I am totally hooked! My first face was on my daughter, I tried copying a face from the Wolfe 50 Friendly & fiendish Faces book... I think it was okay, I hope to get much better though in the next few months so I can get out there and DO MY THING! LOL!!!

This first pic was taken on 23rd oct 2010, I was asked to do facepainting at a henna event I had booked for early nov 2010, I bought a snaz party kit and got two of DH's workmates kids over. I thought it would be easy. It wasn't!!!! That night I hit the web again and started practicing!! A few weeks later I did my first job. I can't believe I'm posting this pic but at the same time I'm pretty stoked how much I've learned in 5months. And even my henna is now getting better after flatlining for ages!

Before becoming addicted to FPF my first ever brush to face attempt...
