Hello everyone
Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kristen and I have absolutely NO experience in face painting, but I am very interested in learning. My family belongs to the Society of American Magicians and my teenage daughter is a two-time award winning magician who was also recently featured in an international magic magazine. I am her "boxjumper/assistant". I thought if I could learn to face paint it would be the perfect accompaniment or alternative to her birthday party shows. Since she has been taking on less shows due to her advanced coursework at school, preparing for SATs, and college searching has been taking up much of her time-- although it also leaves me with more time on my hands.
I never really thought about face painting until this past weekend. I was volunteering at my daughter's work (she works at a Children's Fairytale Park) where they were doing facepainting during the Easter Egg Event. They were so short handed I stepped in to help. Everyone painting were novices as this was a free service. The designs were simple cheek art. I had no idea how much I would enjoy it!! Although, I'm not surprised because I love kids and seeing their excitement and smiles-- another reason I love partnering with my daughter in magic.
I would really like to learn to do this the "right" way. I am a stickler for cleanliness, which makes it hard when you are learning and don't want to double-dip!
Any suggestions, recommendations, and insight you can provide would be greatfully appreciated! In the meantime, I will continue to study as much information as I can around the forum.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Hello everyone
Gidday and welcome to the group.
There are loads of tutorials for how to face paint on youtube. Marvelous Masks another forum member does heaps of wonderful inspiring ones & Silly Heather Banks from Silly farm has heaps too. Your also very lucky living where you do cause I'm sure if you looked into it you could find face painting workshops near you. Best of luck & enjoy the ride.

Welcome to the group, you are going to love it! You tube is a great source of info, especially if you like to see it done to learn (a number of our members have their own channels). But this forum can really be a great wealth of information and support. Ask questions and join in on the challenges!
Re: Hello everyone
Welcome Kristen!!
Sounds like you have the "right stuff" (joy, desire to learn, and a sprinkle of artistic talent, and hygienic tendencies!) and you definitely came to the right place!
You must be so proud of your daughter!! That is cool! Happy Painting!
