Freezing Henna

Post by Psalmbook on Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:10 pm

I have leftover henna. As much as I'd love to henna myself from head to toe, there's got to be something better I can do with it. lol!

I've read it can be frozen. Is this true? Can it be put in the 'fridge & if so, for how long? Can it be defrosted & then refrozen?
Thanks!

I read somewhere that if you defrost henna, it shouldn't be frozen again. Maybe someone with some actual knowledge could comment on whether or not that's true.

I bought some that was frozen from an indian store in my area... It came in a cone thingy... I thawed it out and leave it at room temp ever since... I am not sure if that is how you are supposed to care for it but the consistency hasn't changed ::shrug::

Put it in cones and freeze the cones. Take out only what's needed. The longer it's at room temp (or hotter) it starts losing it's staining power.

Suzy, how long ago did you buy the henna from that store??

A MONTH AGO????? Shocked

That henna may very well have hair dye in it. No natural henna that I have ever heard of will stain after a month of being left out in room temps.

Read this!!

OK, I'll have to get some cones. My hands do get a little sore after doing 1 henna... if I ever do a lot I might just get arthritic Very Happy

Nice henna Suzy! Do you have a pic of the final stain?

Do you mind if I show that photo to a henna expert and see what they think?? I'm willing to bet that it has hair dye in it and that is why it still makes a good stain.

I use natural green henna as a product for another project I have been doing for years and regularly refreeze unused portions.

I usually lasts well for 2-3 re-freezings then the color is affected.
