A real challenging On going challenge - impromptu street face painting

Post by Metzpah on Wed Apr 21, 2010 2:07 pm

This was the next topic suggested in the facepaint game challenges. Paint a stranger on the street and take a pic... photogs do this but without the painting... they meet a stranger, learn a story, take a pic and share.*

I am thinking this should stay open ended, so no rush to get out and torture strangers Smile

I just did a bunch of homeschool kids, impromptu at their phys ed class today, but I don't think it counts. I haven't worked in 2 weeks & was getting tired of painting my arm Very Happy

Yeah, when I suggested it, I didn't think we'd actually be DOING it! lol

But my husband gave it a whirl with his photog group and it was really cool. And who doesn't keep a small palatte with them at all times "just in case?"

I have an artists' open house I'm going to on Friday. Maybe I'll strike up a conversation there. This will be good for us. One of the best skills to have is to be able to talk to strangers, and the only way to get the skill is to do it!

Lookout Indy!

Does going to the park and painting random children count? I do that often to occupy myself while my daughter is off playing. Never a shortage of willing models, parents love their kids being occupied, and I tend to book quite a few gigs that way. A real win win ya know? cheers

Don't you need a street trader licence to be doing it on the streets insurance or not?

@SpinningStardust, every city has their own rules regarding busking. My city has very liberal busking laws, though I do have a business license and I'm insured. In this case, however, you'd just be volunteering to paint a stranger, you're not setting up shop. =)

I'm thinking that if you're not asking for any payment then it's okay... It's similar to giving out business cards in a way that's a little more interesting.

Sounds fun, I just don't know if I'm that confident... I love ChangingFaceDesigns idea! I'll have to take my little sister to the park sometime...
