Difference between stencils??
Hi de ho,
I'm wondering if anybody can tell me the specific difference between Glitter tattoo stencils and airbrush tattoo stencils?
Can I use the same stencils for both or not?
Thanks
Tash

Re: Difference between stencils??
The glitter tattoo stencils are adhesive stencils-to stick on the skin while you are doing the glitter-and have a max usage of 3 times if you are lucky in my case LOL
The airbrush/face paint stencils are made of different plastic materials, mylar for example, and do not stick to the skin- they can be used over and over and over
I have not been in the business very long, but from what I do know I don't think it would be very easy to switch the uses...would be very difficult......
does that help?

Re: Difference between stencils??
I meant Airbrush Tattoo stencils the adhesive kind, not for face painting.
I have adhesive stencils for airbrush tattoos aand adhesive stencils for glitter tattoos, and I was looking at the set up Suzy was selling and was wondering if I can use the stencils for airbrushing too.
I'm thinking the difference is probably the quality of the medium - glitter tattoos arn't made to be reused 5-10 times.
Some of the airbrush tattoo stencils can be used an endless amount of times with the right care and cleaning.

Re: Difference between stencils??
hmmm, I looked up some adhesive airbrush stencils and I guess it would be price... where each glitter tattoo stencil is from .30 - .50 cents and the airbrush stencils are like $4.00 for 4 of them, so like a dollar a piece.
you can get (if you order over 300) 10 glitter tattoo stencils for $4.00 at signature glitter..
and while you said that the airbrush ones are re-usable... it might be harder once glitter and glue get all over them instead of just airbrush paint.
It is nice to see all different types of designs though...

Thanks Suzy,
I was thinking of purchasing your glitter tattoo kit and maybe using the stencils for both. Have you sold it?

Re: Difference between stencils??
The glitter stencils have a sticky back...when you pull it off the skin it takes with it all the top dead cells....take one look at it and decide whether you would want that put on you.....YUCK NO. Yes they will stick several times, but unless you are using it on the same person....only use it once.
Airbrush stencils are made to clean and reuse over and over again. They are thicker with no adhesive on the back. use wash and reuse

Re: Difference between stencils??
What is the point of wiping everyone with alcohol wipes before application if you are just going to use it once?
( apart from the fact it sticks better )
Dead skin cells are everywhere. We come into contact with them every day, I think if someone is that germ 'aware' they wouldn't want you to touch them to put the tattoo on in the first place.
Maybe it's just me, I'm pretty relaxed about these things...... most aussies are.
I let my kid play in the dirt to build up her own system for fighting germs and viruses, small doses of germs are good for you.
In all my time tattooing with adhesive stencils - which is all of a year...lol - I haven't had anyone question the stencil....even when it's obviously been used and has paint still on on it.
They are also as Suzy pointed out, too expensive not to reuse.

Re: Difference between stencils??
Just Jenny I would be interested to know what you make of these.
This is what I have worked with.
They are adhesive, when I worked with non adhesive and tried to do more then one color they always moved and it took longer then I would have liked.
I also can't find non sticky ones in this size and range.
Anyway have a look if you get a chance and tell me what you think, I'm interested to know.
