New brit in Connecticut and this amazing forum!!!!
Hello, my name is Hayley and I am SO thrilled to have found this forum. I've had a brief look around and I'm in awe! - there are so many inspiring artists with tips and advice and phenomenal face paintings! - I'm excited to explore more!!!
I have volunteered for a few years now to do face painting at my childrens school and our parish events. We recently moved from the UK to Connecticut, USA for my husbands work and I brought all my facepaints with me and all of a sudden my passion for facepainting has flourished. I volunteered to do a party with a professional face painter a couple of months back and picked up a few useful tips - the biggest one being that I was using the wrong black totally (I've always found the snazaroo black too difficult to work with properly) This face painter introduced me to paradise and Wolfe paints and I have improved a lot - theres no looking back now. So many people have asked me if I do partys etc so I'm hoping to bite the bullet and have a go at it professioanlly. I have to admit to feeling a little daunted when I see some of the work on here though....my main worry is not being able to do them quickly enough. I did the face painting at our new school fete last Saturday and I was inudated for over three hours continously but I reckon I only averaged around 10 minutes per face and I was really trying my best to be quick (my shoulders were agony after too). The amazing thing was all the wonderful feedback from everyone and several requests for childrens birtday parties over the summer!! - yay!
Anyway, I have so many questions but I realise I've randomly prattled far too long already....looking forward to learning more......Thanks for having me...!

Welcome to the group! And don't worry about speed yet, it'll come with practice, or at least that's what I keep telling myself!

Gidday from Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. I agree with Jennifer - JBax, don't sweat the speed it will come with practice & also having a collection of designs that are simple yet effective. Before you know it you'll know some designs without having to think about them & fly through them.

Thanks for the advice! I already feel like I've picked up so many tips from here. I've seen several links to youtube videos which are amazing and I'm now itching to get some of those arty cakes...in fact I've just made up one I'm going to try out just because I'm too impatient to wait fo an order to arrive.....kids are in bed so I guess I'll have to do it on my own face...oh well here goes - how bad could it be?!
Thanks for all the welcomes!!!!

I'm pretty new myself to FP, but I'm very willing to share anything that I do know, or have picked up from other people. Please don't hesitate to ask, or use us/me as a sounding board for ideas.
