Great designs all. When it comes time to do the poll, someone will have to walk me through how to do it.

ew. your henna looks like what is in a baby diaper. I have never seen it that color!

It really wasn't that color. I think the camara flash gave it that greenish look.

Actually, good, fresh henna powder is nice and green, so fresh paste should be fairly green as well. The only reason it should have a different color is if you mix dark liquids into it, like tea or coffee.
If it is too bright green, your paste probably has not been left to rest long enough for full dye release to take place.
Once the paste starts to get too much of a brown, reddish, or orangy coloration to the liquids, then it is getting old and headed downhill.

Yes, the green henna stains orange.
All fresh henna powder should be nice and green.
Good, fresh henna paste should be greenish brown, unless some darker liquid was added to make it darker. Even in that case, you should still see a slight greenish color to it.

My henna was actually pretty old(a day or too & had been refrozen). I was surprised how well it stained. I had some left over from when my daughter was doing henna at an adult birthday party.
