Bonjour & Hello :)

Post by Deeva on Thu Apr 29, 2010 5:01 pm

Good day everyone!

My industry name is DEEVA and I am from Montreal (Québec) Canada EH!! Oui, je parles francais aussi! This is my first post on the face painting forum, and I am very excited to have found this fabulous link!

In a nutshell, I have been a body therapist for many years specializing in aesthetic services such as Manicures – Pedicures – Facials – Waxing - Eyelash Extensions - Tooth Jewelry - Artistic Gel Nail Design - Spa Treatments – Makeup to say the least.

I branched out of the salon about seven years ago to explore being an artistic nail educator for a US manufacturer travelling for trade shows and still routinely teach nail courses for a local distributor, schools and salons. The one common visual element I was exposed to while working at trade shows was face & body art. Intrigued is putting it mildly, I often thought to myself if I could adorn a tiny canvas such as a nail bed, what could I do with a live body canvas hmmmmmm .... so began the adventure of painting everyone and everything within five feet of me!!!!

After some technical training, a new tool kit and tons of practice I can now work primarily as a creative theme artist specializing in Face Painting - Body Art - Pre-Natal Belly Painting - Henna - Glitter Tattoos - Airbrush Temporary Ink Tattoos and slowly learning how to create Balloon Twists and Special Effects like wounds, scars, blood plus application of prosthetics with airbrush cover up.

Needless to say I have not looked back and have much more to learn! I currently offer multi-service for individual and groups such as Daycares - Day Camps – Schools - Company Promotions – Picnics – BBQs – Conventions - Outdoor Events - Festivals – Holidays – Pool Parties - Birthday Parties – Weddings - Showers - Sport Functions - Corporate Events – Graduations - Private Parties - Bar/Bat Mitzvahs – Promotional Ventures – Galas – Club Venues – Fashion Shows – Product Launches ... basically wherever the need arises to secure a gig, the bigger the crowd and longer the line the better!

My PROMISE is to only use good quality professional face and body pains that are FDA approved compliant and safe for cosmetic use, mostly use: Kryolan, 100% pure Henna with essential oils, Mehron, Paradise, OCC, Fardel, and approved face & body glue and glitters to bring amazing smiles and entertainment to people of all ages.

BTW twice a month I participate in jam sessions with other local artists – one is specifically geared towards face painters while the other is focused on airbrush body painting (hosted by Alex Hansen), which has been an excellent medium to go wild and crazy while learning new tips & tricks, each session ends with a photo shoot. I strongly recommend joining a jam or creating a jam in your area in order to push your skill set this surely helped me to gain more confidence and precision to be motivated by other artists.

Basically I am looking forward to having pleasant exchanges with like-minded right brained individuals who are passionately painting the world in color. Hoping to be online to participate in this forum on a regular basis. I am interested in learning more about this service industry, whats available & happening and what others do around the world. This forum seems like a highly motivating, informative and resourceful meeting place. Kudos to you all and thanking you in advance for taking the time to read this long post!!!

PS: Would have loved to have met some of you at FABAIC this year, but it coincides with my 40th birthday, so hoping to see you all next year when the show celebrates a 10th year anniversary!! But for those of you who can travel to Canada mark your calendars for Color Mundo http://www.colormundo.com/

Sincerely,
Deeva

Tsk Tsk Tsk my bad! I signed up to the forum with every intention of participating on a regular basis and VOILA it's two months later!!! But I have a valid excuse - it's summer in the city which is very short lived in my neck of the woods so it's time to paint outdoors again!!! Woot!! Thank you to everyone for the warm greetings, looking forward to chatting with you more. Tootles Smile

Welcome! My daughter is in french immersion (age 7) and tells me I speak french with a norwegian accent LOL. I can help her read it, but comprehension is another thing (Je ne comprend pas).

I noticed colormundo is cancelled for now. Will it be revived? CAFABA is having an event in Calgary if you ever make it out West Very Happy

Hi Catz!

Don't you adore having your language skills evaluated by a 7 year old?!?!? Sounds like a sexy combination of accents LOL. Keep up the good work learning with your daughter, your French writing is coming along nicely Smile

At this point Colormundo has been officially cancelled for 2010, sadly no news on a revival mission until next year.

Thanks for the invite to CAFABA but Calgary is quite far out, would have to plan for it! Are you attending?

Anybody attend FABAIC? What were your experiences (other than awesome)??? Inquiring minds want to know, totally booking for the anniversary edition next year!!!

Happy Painting everyone Smile
