I just got on to Silly Farm and they loaded some new cakes. I think you all will recognize one.

LOL! I love that cake & FPF's price is soooo much better! Oh well... I can't complain when I've sat & made my own SF cakes. When you buy a split cake you're paying for the service.

Suzy... all the paints I bought from you are now splits!

Well alright then. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I had really held off on doing any of their cakes because it just didn't sit easy, but I guess there is no reason not too.

I won't get too ruffled since it wasn't even my idea to begin with. Though I think round cakes really waste a lot of paint.

After I get caught up tomorrow and get the newsletter out, I will be able to focus on making some split cakes. Those of you who wanted some made, make sure to go to that thread, name the cake and the colors in it and I will start working.

Get a few folks buy a couple of colors you like and cut them - three painters + three colors = a nice tri cake at the cost on one. The more you stick to basic blends you'll use more and for more things. I have seen plenty of old split cakes in very good painters kits not being used - they may be pretty but used often or not is another story.

Or buy a few if that works for you.

Hee! Hee! I saw this and did a double take. I actually saw it on the sf site last night. I didn't think anyone would notice it was just like twilight. I am kind of flattered that they liked my combo of colors. lol!

And Metina, I say "heck Yeah!" on making color combos similar to other sites. I'll be in line to buy some.

Speaking of SF...

When is the last time they've send out a discount or coupon. Have I totally missed them?

(They have a few things that aren't carried here that I need.)

Yeah, if you are on their mailing list, a lot of the times they'd send you a "if you spend $50.00 you get free shipping" type of stuff

I haven't gotten one for a while though.

painted if you are familiar with the past codes SF has used...... they really dont' change. I stumbled across that the last few times I have ordered from them... I hadn't gotten an email from them in a while so I figured I would plug in one of there old codes just change the month pre fix and it worked.
So I have still been able to get discounts. The shipment I just got yesterday I got $10 off and free shipping

I like FPF's boxes better... less waste & they take up less space in your kit.

Square or rectangle cakes make so much sense, my first rainbow cake was a neon from SF made with kryolen, it was quite soft and really didn't take long before it was all gone down to the container in the middle half inch with just paint around the sides, impossible to swipe a rainbow with a sponge, I'm glad I didn't throw it out and last night I lifted the leftover out and re-molded a cake that filled one of those cases computer memory cards come in. I'll post pix later.
