Silly Bandz

Post by cmeexpressions on Thu May 13, 2010 1:27 pm

I don't know if any of you guys have kids that are currently CRAZY about Silly Bandz bracelets but I just stopped at the Walgreens here where I live to see if they had any for my girls. The lady said they received 144 packs of them 9am this morning and they were all gone by Noon. What the heck? Why couldn't I think of this. Somebody is making some money! Shocked

They are rubber bracelets about the width of a rubber band. When they are on they look like a bracelet. When off they are a shape such as a flower, dinosaur, baseball etc. Kids are CRAZY About them here. They trade them at lunch and on the playground etc. $5 for a pack of 12. They are sooooo cheaply made. You can't find them anywhere. Wish I had thought up this invention. They are making some $ . I know it is a fad but someone is getting rich quick.

I discovered them at kids church when the kids had them all sorted on the floor & were trading. I thought the same thing... I want an invention that is cheaper than dirt & everyone wants! The maker of these must be giddy while the fad lasts.

Looks like silly string sprayed in layers. I remember when I was younger we had those bracelets that you would slap onto your wrist.

Slap bracelets! Haha, they were banned at my school - too many kids slapping each other with them, I think.

The kids here trade them like crazy! I have seen kids arms with their arms 8 inches covered with the bands. When I first saw them months ago before my 7 year old got hooked - couldn't believe how they were getting popular. Ridiculous - shaped rubber bands - animals, dinosaurs, cars, mystical creatures, shapes..... There is even a kiosk at our local mall!!!

I had declared an anti silly band house for my kids but Nana infiltrated. Now I use them to encourage/force extra chores.

They are so cheap now that I bought a couple 24 packs for a couple bucks and I give them away at some parties,

Who is the coolest face painter ever???

The one with silly bandz!!

haha,

Illusion, I also instituted a sillyband reward/discipline system with my kids. If they don't do what they should, I take one, if they do something especially good they get one. It really works with my5 yr old, heaven forbid he lose his gator one!
